Cassandra was born and raised in Lumberton, North Carolina. Though she was very active in high school and in the community, most of her spare time was spent at the sewing machine. When most of the other girls her age were playing with dolls and tea sets, Cassandra was sewing, making her very first dress at the age of ten.
Her very first job as a helper at the finest Men's Clothier in Lumberton, gave her experience and the know how to alter clothes. After graduating from high school, Cassandra moved to Charlotte in 1975 to attend King's College, graduating in 1976 with a diploma in Fashion Merchandising. After many years in the corporate arena, Cassandra has decided to turn her passion into business in the Charlotte NC area.

I wish I could give zero stars. I had Cassandra do over $300 of work to several suits, blazers, and pants. When I got them back, the seams were crooked, hems unfinished, fabric left bunched up, and the sleeve of my suit was SUPER GLUED in place. I took the clothes to another tailor to be fixed, and they were deemed "borderline unsalvageable." I cannot believe that this place has any positive reviews, as I honestly think I could have done a better job myself watching YouTube videos. I brought my bridesmaid dress to Cassandra at the beginning of February for a Memorial Weekend wedding. I had a bit of alteration requests like taking in the straps, adding bra padding and hemming the dress. I wanted to give Cassandra plenty of time to do the dress right and not be rushed by the approaching prom season.
I came for my first fitting mid April and only the straps had been taken in, but it was still not enough because the dress did not fit like I wanted it to. Cassandra then made me wait for 35 minutes as she finished the dress and let me leave with it.

Ms. Cassandra is helped me to alter a bridesmaid dress with only weeks left before the ceremony. She was patient, attentive and thorough in regards to understanding my needs. I called Cassandra's Alterations and set up an appointment with her for today. Her shop is reminiscent of a chic boutique with exposed brick walls and wood shelving. There are tailor-made suits, dress shirts hanging on the wall. I was warmly greeted by an associate who asked "are you here to see Cassandra?" She came out and I immediately felt comfortable. After the bad experience I had at another shop, I was a little apprehensive to bring in my bridesmaid dress to be altered to fit. I was in and out in 10 minutes or less. I decided to go with Cassandra after having a lot of problems with almost all of my bridal experience. She is the sweetest lady! She did an amazing job on altering not only my wedding dress but also on a Lilly Pulitzer dress, too! She is a bit of a drive from where I live but I would drive the 45 minutes to her any day! Yelp lead me to Cassandra's alterations, as I searched for place in Charlotte to get a bridesmaid gown nipped and tucked. I dropped my dress off on a Wednesday and it was ready within a week. Had it hemmed and the shoulder straps shortened. Cost $65, but the dress had three layers of fabric. Also had another dress hemmed and a zipped fixed. I don't remember how much they were, but I felt that everything was reasonably priced. Most important, Cassandra and her friend did good work and were very professional. I live in Huntersville and usually go to the University area for my alterations but didn't have time to drive over there so I thought I would give Cassandra's a try. I had 2 pairs of women's jeans hemmed for $24, about $6 more than what I'm used to paying. They were completed on time and the length is fine but it's the way they are hemmed that seems odd to me. There's a hard crease above the sew line so now when my jeans come out of the dryer they want to roll up where the crease is. I have a hard time keeping them straight. More than likely won't return

I recently purchased some slacks and jeans and needed some alterations. After a number of failed attempts to locate the tailor I had used in the past...I found Cassandra's. I placed a call and made appointment to come in for fitting for the items. I needed the slacks hemmed and cuffed. And I needed the jeans hemmed. I was very pleased that the items were ready when promised in just a couple of days. And the slacks/jeans were hemmed and cuffed to perfection. I had a bridesmaid dress altered. The top section featured a stiff organza overlay that stuck out much too far for my small chest. This seemed like a tricky alteration to me, since it wasn't a simple matter of tucking in existing seams, but Cassandra did a great job and the dress was very flattering. The dress did not need any further adjustments after the initial alteration. Her prices are good and her work is quality.

This was my very first visit. Cassandra was sitting at the back of the store with her back to the door when I walked in. I looked around for a moment and noticed her. She turns from her work. No "hello" or "how are you doing". Without a smile or measure of politeness she simply says "Yes?" I was taken aback. She seemed genuinely annoyed at my being there. Ms. Cassandra has done it again!!!! She has done work for me in the past and I was always very pleased. However, I recently walked into her shop with an alterations rush job I needed for my daughter's upcoming cotillion and she made it happen in less than 3 days. She is always friendly and her prices are beyond reasonable and the workmanship is great. She is very talented and I recommend her to anyone in the Charlotte area looking for a great seamstress. I found out about Cassandra's on the internet and was impressed with all of her good customer reviews. I took a couple items in yesterday to be hemmed. Her price was very good and reasonable and even though I told her I was in no rush, she told me I could pick them up the next morning. She did an excellent job and was a pleasure to deal with as a local customer. She conducts herself in a professional friendly manner that makes you feel good about doing business with her.

If you are ever in the Charlotte area or live there and need emergency help with alterations, do not hesitate, Cassandra's is the place you MUST go. I had a dress designed while stationed overseas but I couldn't try the dress on prior before being sewn together. I received the dress 2 days before my sister's wedding and I was maid of honor. I wear a size 12. The dress was made for a size 4/6. It was horrible!
I flew from Los Angeles into Charlotte and searched the yellow pages. I went to two different places that could not fix it. Cassandra's website showed it closed on Monday
