I have been stopping in to the Warren store for years. Honestly I think it was much better a few years back. The last few times I stopped in the store, it had changed. It lost a lot of it's old general store feel. It seems a lot more city influenced now. Don't get me wrong. It's still an old general store. It's just not as genuine as it use to be.
I still really enjoy a nice sandwich outside on the deck overlooking the stream. And I still stop in.

Another quintessential Vermont country store. Very easy-to-find off Route 100 with parking in front of the store and also on the street. Space to sit on the deck overlooking the falls to enjoy any food that you may order inside. The store boasts a good selection of beer and wine, prepared foods including daily specials, any staples that you may need to replenish your pantry, and lots of great clothing and other general items that you might need.

A nice store, with a variety of locally created items. They sell food like cookies and candy, but also sandwhiches and other food that is made right there. The food we got was delicious. Some of the items for sale were expensive. There was a swim suit for $84 which is a bit high, but there were a variety of more reasonably priced items.

We used to love this place a lot, and I fully know those that work there are hard working and great people, but the food seemed a bit lackluster last time we visited. Sandwiches were under salted and some of the pastries weren't great. For instance the scone I got was nothing like what I know a scone to be, it was more like a dry madeleine cookie (and I love eating scones). We've heard it's gone under new management but hope that quality comes back up!

Seating inside is too scarce lately and the plan to add more cannot come soon enough. For some reason they lost a table and I cannot understand why they don't just put in a 4 top, temporarily, until the new seating is ready.
As far as the new plan is concerned I'd like to suggest two long, narrowish, communal tables with benches, to maximize the amount of people they can get in space - ie no chunky chairs or smaller tables that allow people with laptops to "use" extra, needed seats. Laptop people, this really isn't you're place. Save it for the city. Or weekdays

I've been happily coming here with my family for years. Today I ordered a hummus sandwich with olives. When I opened it, it was terrible. They'd obviously taken a fist full of olives rather than a few. When I brought it back, the guy behind the counter just grunted and proceeded to do the same thing again. The deli manager saw it and didn't care a bit and the third person behind the counter was complaining about a customer. When I asked the cashier for a manager she said that the manager was the woman at the deli. ;-( The picture that I've attached is of the second sandwich

The upstairs boutique is wonderful - lots of unique and well-curated gifts, decor, clothes, including some of the cutest infant and toddler fashions. We got a whimsical hooked wool rug - it was hard to decide which one to get. Excellent browsing.
Downstairs general store is very nice also. Tuna sandwich on baguette was nicely done with olives and pickles. Veg chili very tasty. Watch out for Venetian ginger ale in green glass bottle - VERY SPICY. They have Mexican coke - yay. Old-timey refrigerated cases are delightful.

Is it possible to fall in love with a store? YES! The Warren Store is not your typical "store". It has one of the best selections of wine (from $10 on up) and craft beer.
The deli is amazing!! Fresh roasted coffee, house made pastries, homemade bread, soups, sandwiches, everything you would want from a country store.
The owners are wonderful people, warm and inviting, as well as helpful (without being pushy). It's adorable too, rustic, and cozy with great local art. It's been in business for several decades and is cherished by the locals. That tells me everything. If you

Love this place. So many cool knickknacks and beers and foods. I got a salmon sandwich and it might possibly be he best "lunch sandwich" I've ever had. They also have this sparkling fruit juice stuff for $5 that is totally worth it. Great pastries and such an old time looking place that, if for no other reason, you should just go and check it out.

The Warren Store is a bit of a tourist trap, but so are a lot of the country stores in Vermont and at least the Warren Store parking lot can't fit a tour bus. On the inside you'll find the necessities: decent coffee, local beer, a great deli, some souvenirs, a bunch of candy, and creaky floorboards. Upstairs is a surprisingly upscale (or at least expensive) clothing boutique.
The sandwiches are big enough to share. My recent experience was with a hummus and vegetable sandwich that had lots of tasty veggies and plenty of hummus, but could have used some hot peppers or a more garlicky

When we're traveling up Vermont's Route 100 we always stop in here. It's not even a question.
For starters, we know we'll find something tasty to eat. The sandwiches for example are terrific and have cute names. But there are all kinds of other food delights too including baked goods.
We stock up on more water for the drive and if we think we might want a picnic later complete with wine, we can get a bottle here.
But really, it's just so darn pleasant both inside and outside the store that even if we were stuffed to the gills with food and drink, we'd stop by
