This hotel was... A unique experience on a few levels. I think the word quirky fits it well! I showed up a little early, about 2pm on a Saturday since check in was listed at 3pm. I figured I would check if my room was available, nonetheless. It wasn't, but oddly... They gave me the keys to the room and then told me they would call. At 3:30pm, I hadn't received a call so I walked in to check and they it was ready! Later I told by locals that most places in Port Townsend won't let you in a room prior to check-in time whether the room is open or not!
The room itself was great. The

Parking was no issue, because according to the locals, nobody ever tickets you for parking in a 2hr or 15 min. spot for days at a time - those signs are just for decoration! (We parked illegally the entire trip, no issue).
Check-in happens in a little shop to the right of the actual hotel entrance. The staff are all very friendly and nice, even with our last-minute-changing-rooms-each-night booking. We stayed in room 6, and then room 14, and depending on the room, you either have an en-suite bathroom, or a private bathroom down the hall. You get a set of keys and here's how it works:

Charming Victorian building with good-sized rooms and beautiful views. Right on Port Townsend Bay near the ferry terminal. Has the standard microwave/refrigerator/coffee maker combo and a quite nice television with cable. Exposed brick interior wall adds an extra layer of charm. Drawbacks: the walls are pretty thin and the gulls outside can get pretty raucous, but these are very minor inconveniences. Overall, we consider this a lucky find.

For being an old historic hotel in the downtown area, this was a pleasant stop. Rooms were quiet, bed was comfortable, and the charm of an old vintage hotel, made this very unique. Walking distance to many shops and restaurants. No elevator or amenities like standard newer hotels but if you like vintage charming hotels, this will fit that desire.

I stayed here during the record-breaking heatwave of Summer 2021. Even though it was 100+ degrees outside and quite hot inside, the staff were helpful, friendly, and clearly still working hard. Front desk was kind and informative, and housekeeping staff, despite the physically demanding work and high heat, did a great job cleaning and being helpful and were always friendly. I enjoyed everything about my stay in part because of where I stayed. 10/10 will be back.

I can’t convey enough how great an experience it is staying here at the Water street. The help desk folks are knowledgeable about the area and very friendly + accommodating. Each room has its own unique personality. The rooms and bathrooms are very sanitary. This is my preference for accommodations while in PT for any amount of overnight time.

When it was time for my Twentieth Year Reunion from Port Townsend High School over Ten Years ago, my Darling Husband and myself stayed at the Water Street Hotel. There was a Seagull Convention just outside out window while we were there. Also there is limited parking in Downtown Port Townsend, Washington state. We received a discount on our room because I remembered to ask about one when I called to Book our Room. I spoke to the owner of the Water Street Hotel myself, when I booked our Room. We shared a bathroom with a couple of other rooms on the same floor. I recommend that you book a room which

I just need to start with this hotel is an absolute gem! From booking on the phone to leaving to head home. This visit was one of the best experiences we have ever had. We stayed in room #16 it has two beds one bed is in its own room and a trundle. Kitchen work stove, sink, coffee maker and fridge. This room has the most beautiful views of the water as well. We wanted to stay for a late check out paid extra but they were so sweet about it all. The customer service here is unheard of. Always greeted with a smile and such joy. We have already booked our next stay here and cannot wait to return here

We had such a pleasant experience staying here. We unfortunately were arriving a bit later at night and the hotel was very accommodating. The room (suite 21) itself provided so much space, was quaint and quiet, and everything we were looking for. The history of the hotel was enough to get me to stay, but i'll be returning for the lovely staff, setting, and perfect location. Would recommend!

WE loved this place.
We stayed in the large room on the 3rd floor. I think it was 15. It had a full deck and kitchen.
There was a very large bathroom with a clawfoot bathtub. There wasn't any place to put our suitcases unless we wanted to put them in the bathroom closet which is very large. They could use a few of those suit case holders and a small shelf in the bathroom for makeup.
The view was amazing. Everyone that stayed in the hotel was friendly as well as the folks that worked there.
Mary helped us with destination guidelines many times in person and on the phone.

We stayed here September 17-19 and loved it! The lady who runs it in the downstairs gift/gallery shop is wonderful. We were very surprised and impressed at the size of the room, the tall windows overlooking the street and its excellent location. Public parking is next door and everything is within walking distance. This town is spotless!! virtually no litter or graffiti anywhere and people are very friendly. My wife and I are both from San Francisco and love Victorian architecture and this place has it in spades...they have a nice little microwave kitchen on second floor. We are definitely

We stayed at the Water Street on Saturday of Mothers Day weekend and it was wonderful. The lady who runs it is in the downstairs gallery/gift shop and she is great! Friendly, helpful, accommodating and very down to earth. The room was actually 2 rooms w/ bath, which worked great for the 4 of us. Absolutely loved the high ceilings, tall windows and spacious feel. Perfect location for soaking up downtown and the waterfront.

Before I say anything else, I want to say, I love this place! I have stayed here several times in several different rooms and l have always had the same unique, cool, calm, pleasant experience. Oh, and architecture!!! Astounding. It's so quiet, but still on the main "Water Street". We arrived Thursday for my daughter's father's birthday. They had a 20% off coupon online that they happily honored verbally when checking-in. They allowed us to check in early and were extremely friendly. All of the rooms are different at this hotel and you can look at their website and pick

A great older hotel. Our corner "room" was more like an apartment, with a kitchen, separate smaller loft room which would be great for kids (we weren't traveling with any), large private deck with picnic table and swing overlooking the water, and lots of windows for good ventilation... and an en suite bathroom. Front desk person, who also works the store, was very helpful & pleasant. It was a great stay.

If you want a old fashioned hotel right in downtown Port Townsend this is a great place.
This is the second time I've come with my family and we very much enjoy our stays. The service is helpful and friendly.
We've stayed in room 15 and 16. Both were huge, high ceiling and totally unique. Room 15 has a balcony over looking the water which is my first recommendation. Room 16 is nice too. Only the master bedroom has a nice view. We slept 4 very comfortably both.
If you like your modern hotel chains where everything is the same and septic you may not like this. If you want to stay some

I've stayed here on two separate occasions and both times have been wonderful.
This place is very reasonable and has quite a bit of personality.
It is European style accommodations - meaning shared bathroom but I've never had an issue. We had a sink in our room which was nice. The rooms are very large and their website, while it may be old, does have price listings and photos of each room - making it easy to pick and choose whichever best suits your needs.

A classic 19th century hotel with lots of stairs. Five of the rooms share two hall baths, but the rest have private bathrooms. Our bathroom had a modern tub and toilet. The sink is original with TWO faucets for hot and cold water. The sink which is in the main room is a reminder to how much smaller people were back in the 19th century! I am 5'9" tall and the sink is thigh high on me! But hey, you stay in a classic building with all the charm of it's original design.....it's fun! The rooms have incredibly high ceilings and ceiling fans. The upstairs lobbies are an atrium
