Title Insurance insures your ownership rights as well as the condition of your title. From time to time title insurance is often confused with Homeowner's insurance. The two are very different. Homeowner's insurance will insure your property against any structural damage that may occur, whereas title insurance will insure against any defects that have occurred in the past, effecting your chain of title.

If I could give no stars, I would. Poor customer service and professionalism. Complete lack of knowledge in an area I have practiced in for nearly 20 years compared to someone who thinks they know tax issues and can't even get on a phone to discuss an issue in a reasonable manner. The Underwriter/owner who allegedly makes decisions hides behind his or her staff and doesn't have the courtesy to get on a phone.
They handled a closing and misreported tax information which I will of course have to clean up because of their incompetence. I made several attempts to talk to the person responsible for

Although my mortgage company was pushing for another title company, I contacted Wanda the owner of Clear to Close Title Services. She was generous with her time and insight. The information she communicated to me both by phone calls and email were so helpful.
I then spoke to the customer service rep @ the mortgage company and mentioned that I wanted to do the work with Clear To Close, since they had worked on a previous closing and had many of the docs in their files from a former refi and it would amount to a savings of some $600.00.
