Nick Nikiforos established his tailoring business in Chicago in 1970, and has been suiting up Chicago Professionals and building his reputation as a master tailor ever since. A classic American success story, Nick's began with an introduction to his craft as an apprentice in Greece at the age of 14.
We specialize in suiting men and women in hand tailored made clothing. You can provide your own material. We'll fit you to your own particular style and taste, and you can even bring your own design/sketch. Custom made clothing can be considered expensive. However, if you have a jacket, slack, suit, dress, or gown that doesn't fit quite right, or if you have out-grown it, we will be more than happy to alter it to make it fit you like it should!

Mr. Nik is a hidden gem in the Loop! We are lucky to have our neighborhood tailor be a hop and skip away from our house.
I needed to have a suit altered within 24 hours for a wedding (which I was hopping on a flight for the following day). I brought two suits in (might as well) and asked Mr. Nik if he could at least alter the wedding suit, I can pick the second one up at a later date. Lo and behold, he turned BOTH suits around in less than 24 hours like a pro. He did it so quickly and the fit was absolutely perfect. He has very reasonable pricing and is willing to work with your specific needs

I would give 10 stars if I could! Nik is so professional, so nice and so patient! I decided on two lengths for my overcoat arm length (I'm extremely petite and couldn't decide if I wanted the arms a little long or just right) and he showed me what it would look like both lengths all the while being patient. He got the work done in 3.5 business days and the prices are super fair and reasonable! I really appreciate the work Nik does! He's a pro and honestly AMAZING work!

You HAVE to come here! Talk about being pampered! I fell in love as soon as I walked in. The place is super clean and everyone is extremely friendly. Super sterile and a huge selection of nail polish colors.

I was able to get a dress from Yumi Kim hemmed for $60 and pick it up within two days. It was definitely a little pricier than I wanted to pay but the quality of the finish was good, the dress was ready on time and at the right length and he had steamed the dress for me.
No pics but the dress had two layers and was kind of more complicated to alter because it wrapped around. Great job overall!

Nick is the best. His work is well done and done quickly. Nick has altered shirts, skirts, pants for me. He has done coats and pants for my husband at well. He always takes time to find out what you need and what to do to get the best fit for you. I go out of my way to go to Nick’s and it’s well worth it.

I found Nikiforos Tailoring after doing some deep yelping looking for a tailor in Downtown Chicago that could handle alterations to women's suits. Another review by a woman who had her suits altered by Nick and was thrilled with the results pointed me here! If you are looking for an incredibly talented tailor, Nick is your man.

I stumbled upon Nick's business while searching for tailors near my hotel. I was only in Chicago for a couple of days and brought three garments that needed various repairs and hems. Nick was able to complete them in three days before I departed and did an amazing job! He even repaired a zipper that two others had told me was too difficult. His prices were very affordable and I would absolutely go back if I was in the Chicago area again!

I found Nick because of his high reviews on Yelp, and was not disappointed! I brought in a bridesmaid dress that needed a lot of alterations because I'm a petite person - the bust needed to be taken in (and involved some complicated darting) and the complex straps in the back needed to be adjusted to lay flat. He was a consummate professional and had the dress tailored brilliantly within 1 week. He's also just a very nice person and I enjoyed working with him. I will now be taking everything to him!

I'm visiting Chicago in winter, and a button to my overcoat falls off creating an obvious draft for the day. I end up googling a tailor, and Nikiforos is within 400 feet of my hotel. I head over, and then ask if he can see my button back on. Takes him five minutes while I sit there. He gets done, and I ask him how much. He says "It's on me." That's quality service and quality work right there. It was much appreciated.

Nikiforos Tailoring worked wonders on a suit that I had ordered online from a vendor called Indochino. This company didn't claim that the suit would fit perfectly upon arrival so I was expecting a need for alterations.
I've posted before and after pictures to give some visuals of the great job that Nik did. He's a man of few words, but he knew exactly what I needed when I came into his shop with my ill-fitting suit.
You can tell he knows his stuff since he's been doing this for 40+ years. I'm recommending his services to everyone. He's great!

What a find! We were looking for a tailor for my husband's wedding suit - he had a great navy suit where we (were hoping) the pants could be reworked because the jacket seemed to fit really well. But, before that, we gave a "trial run" and brought a few other items that we'd been putting off (hemming of some women's dress pants, cuffs on both soft shell jackets, etc).
Here is what we found - amazing work. Nick makes you try on everything so he can pin it where it needs to be. When the work is finished, he highly recommends you try the garments on again before leaving
