Kailua Acupuncture Clinic was established in 1989 by Dr. Joni Kroll, D.Ac. Dr. Joni opened the clinic along side Kailua Wellness Center, her husband Dr. Douglas Kroll's chiropractic and wellness center. Dr. Joni has been offering Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine to the windward side and the island of O'ahu since then.

She discovered that a school on Oahu was beginning a new semester and she qualified for admission having already completed a pre-med program. She began classes in Oriental Medicine three weeks after her first acupuncture treatment. Dr. Joni graduated with honors from the Oriental Medical Institute in Honolulu, HI and opened Kailua Acupuncture Clinic in 1989.

Joni Kroll's acupuncture treatment for my chronic "tennis elbow" pain has been an incredible, positive life-changing experience! (and I don't even play tennis!) I have been seeing Mariya for years and she has helped to relieve a whole host of neurological and pain issues I have had. Her and the staff at Kailua Acupuncture have been amazing. I refer everyone I know to them. When the doctors told me I would not get full use of my muscles back after an injury Mariya used acupuncture with electrical stimulation and reignited nerve function in the dormant muscles.

Very pleased with the care provided here. A clean and comforting environment, my daughter felt safe and enjoyed her visits. According to her, acupuncture is not at all painful and in fact comforting. The provider did a great job of explaining the Chinese thinking of medicine and helping us understand how it could help her heal.

Aloha, I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant and have been seeing Joni since week 8 of my pregnancy. She has helped me so much throughout this experience! I originally went in for morning sickness and she was able to provide me with relief for those symptoms. I’d leave so relaxed and less nauseous! I’ve seen her twice now for sciatica. At first it was on my left side and only took two appointment to eliminate the pain completely. About two months later it came back in the other side ten times worse and again she greatly helped me wishing three session. I went from not being about to do anything

Mariya and her acupuncture treatment have made a noticeable difference in the management of my migraines. After a car accident, I found myself having severe migraines, at times daily. I started taking some supplements and saw an improvement, but it wasn't until Mariya started treating me that my migraines stayed away for many weeks at a time. When I went on vacation for a month and couldn't get her acupuncture treatment, I was back to having migraines about once a week. i highly recommend her to all the migraineurs I know.

I have suffered from chronic depression since I was 12. In 2000, with young children at home, I hit a low so severe my therapist put me on depression medication. That was not a pleasant experience as the dosage was a guess at best. I gained weight. That increased my depression. I inquired, and Dr. Joni told me acupuncture could treat depression and anxiety. She began treating me in 2001 right after I got off the meds. It wasn't an immediate, overnight fix. But it made a noticeable difference.
