We had the Mercado team bring the truck to our wedding and it was a hit!
I planned my CT wedding from Los Angeles and had to pick a caterer without having the chance to taste the food. I had to go off reviews and then sent in my parents to taste test. Everything was just as good as promised! Working with Heather was great. On our calls, she not only helped guide my menu decisions but assured me I was doing fine in the planning process, providing a little bridal therapy.
The truck arrived promptly to the wedding and got right to work. I LOVED that the chef thought to prepare a special platter

Wow, did my guests rave about the Mercado appetizers at my October wedding. My husband and I have admired (stalked) Mercado's food truck for a few years now, so they were an obvious choice to help cater our wedding. Working with Heather and the team was great- we were presented a long list of food options and were able to customize a menu that fit within our budget. Heather offered many suggestions during this process.
On the day of our wedding, the Mercado team showed up promptly and created a beautiful display for our cocktail hour. My guests raved about the food, which is quite amazing

There's a reason these guys have a 5 star rating. They are slinging some serious gourmet food out of this truck. I had the pork belly slider yesterday. It was rich and perfectly balanced by the pickled red onions, all tied together on a crispy and soft bun. The flat bread I had was phenomenal as well. Again, so well balanced with the hummus, peas, and cheese. Everything is so thoughtfully prepared and unique. I've had their chicharrones before and holy god these are diabolical. We also got the fried chickpeas yesterday and they were off the charts delicious! Seasoned to perfection with

I stopped by this food truck at the Small State Great Beer food festival in Hartford, and what made me stop was the smell coming from it- just amazing! They were sold out of the empanadas at the time, or I would have gotten one- so I decided to go with the pork belly slider... I'm so happy they were out of empanadas so I got to try this! I waited about 5 minutes after placing my order to get it, and was so excited to take my first bite! The slider was a decent size, and the pork belly was cooked to perfection! I loved the pickled red onion and salsa verde on the top as well- and though some

Mercado Food Truck has been on my list for a while now. Had the pleasure of finally trying them this weekend. They were 1 of many quality food trucks at the Small State Great Beer event. So with that being said I only tried one thing as we wanted to sample some of the other trucks too. So I will have to update this review after my second visit once I try a bunch of their other stuff.
We ordered the pork belly slider and it wasn't the all the beer I had talking , but at the time it tasted like the best thing we ever had. The pork perfectly cooked the toasted buns , salsa versa and onions

I think after reading so many 5 Star reviews, I was expecting perfection, but alas, I wasn't so blown away. I ordered the Arroz Con Pollo, Pork Empanada, and Pork Belly Slider.
The Arroz Con Pollo was good, and probably my favorite, I definitely wanted more of that chicken and it's the only dish (of the 3) I'd order again.
Empanada filling was on the salty side for me, and the Asian sweet chili sauce threw me off. I didn't end up finishing it.
Pork Belly Slider had good flavor, but it was so oily. The bottom of my bun was drenched in fat, I just threw that soggy mess out

Dayyyyyyum.
I was at a HYPE event at Hog River last night when I friend messaged me "You have to check out the Mercado food truck" (knowing it was there). I had already caught glimpses of a few peoples' plates and my salivary glands were in overdrive, so I got myself in line. My friend ordered the duck fat potatoes (she didn't realize there was an egg on top, though). Another one got the queso fritas (amaaaazing) and I got the fried brussel sprouts (the dressing had a little more a kick than I had anticipated, but it was SO worth it).
Everything is affordable, fresh, and delicious

There's a line in Peter & the Starcatcher that I love. OH. MY. GOD.
That aptly describes this. Where have you been Mercado? Why hiding? I know you haven't been hiding, but you definitely need to be in Hartford more often.
Because Wow! I know Hartford has some up and coming foot trucks but this one is outstanding. Great quality, REALLY friendly service, good social media. And great food and drink. It's got it all.
I had a slider, an empanada and blueberry lemon spritzer and wouldn't change a think about them. Except perhaps to get the potatoes the next time.

The food truck scene has really expanded in CT, and particularly in the Hartford area. Walk down to Bushnell Park or State House Square on a weekday afternoon, and you have lots of choices.
I'd heard some great things about Mercado, and luckily they were recently at the Riverwalk (near my office). I was not disappointed.
First, the owners are extremely friendly. I arrived a bit before the truck opened, so I got to talk to them a bit. Very nice people.
Beyond that, though, the food is fantastic. The truck's concept seems to be tapas (small plates), reasonably-priced. The menu

Awesome food truck at the Coventry Farmers Market. The menu has a nice selection of snack sized foods.
So far I've tried the duck fat potatoes and the queso frito. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly and were topped with chimichurri and a fried egg. I've also tried the queso frito, which was nice and crispy on the outside and balanced well with honey on top.
I hope to see more of them around at events. Great quality food with interesting flavors that really work together.

What an excellent food truck! We were lucky enough to try this excellent cuisine at the Coventry Farmers Market this weekend, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our maiden visit.
For $9, we got pork belly slider with duck fat potatoes. I love the colors and use of texture, such as the purple cabbage mound on the pork belly slider and the slight crunch on the bun.
The team in the truck is lively, cheering for anyone who tips and moving the line along quite efficiently even during the peak of the festival crowds.
Definitely check it out!

Mercado puts so many other food trucks to shame - and brick & mortar restaurants for that matter.
Their tapas style dishes are the perfect balance of well-portioned and well-priced, with vibrant flavors and locally inspired ingredients utterly unexpected from a food truck. I came to the Coventry Farmers' Market this morning and even at 11:00am on the dot (right when the market opened) there was a line at Mercado - as there should be! My friend and I ordered the pork belly slider, duck fat potatoes and arroz con pollo, which were all spectacular. The duck fat potatoes were topped with
