We are Alvera Podiatry Group. We're located in Encinitas, and have been practicing in this area for over fifteen years. There are two foot doctors (podiatrists) in our office: Dr. Adam Dustin and Dr. Sam Spencer. Both of these physicians specialize in your foot problems and ankle ailments. They are skilled in both conservative and surgical treatments to treat your foot pain.
We are excited to get to know you and help you with your foot pain. Going to a new doctor can be intimidating, and we want to make sure your first visit to our office is smooth and comfortable. If possible, download, print, and fill out your new patient paperwork before your first appointment. If you bring the paperwork with you, it will significantly cut down on the amount of time you will have to wait before seeing your new foot doctor.
I am often asked, "Why in the world would you choose to look at feet everyday?". I don't have an obsession with feet, my obsession is with helping people feel better. The best part of my day is talking with my patients, I truly love coming to work everyday. There is nothing better than hearing someone tell me that what I helped them with has changed their life.

Had to throw a shout out to Alvera for making my life better the past 5 years. I have bad planters fasciitis and need my calluses shaved down every month. I tried multiple places years back to find my go to and Alvera quickly became that. Both the docs are super cool and fun to be around, and just everyone in general is super cool here! Only doctors office I ever looked forward going to. Going to miss you guys moving back east!

After seeing another podiatrist for over three years and still suffering with constant foot pain and only offered Orthotics and basically the
Dr. Saying it’s your back, deal with it, I decided to changed to Dr. Dustin. During my first visit He was very professional and thorough. After He assessed my feet, he was concerned I had another medical issue going on and referred me to another type of medical Doctor. After seeing other doctor and having numerous tests done, I went back to Dr. Dustin He made me new Gel orthotics and I’m starting to get some relief with time and medicine.

I ordered another pair of my current insoles. I moved out of state but was told by the office I could place my order and they would ship it to me if I paid for a Fed Ex label. That was fine. I told the girl several times what my ortho insole number was based on the insole I have which I just got this year. They sent me two pairs of the WRONG INSOLE. So unprofessional. I am not paying them until I get this done right. The insole doesn't even match my current one. Looks like they tried to pull a fast one and give me a cheap mold instead of the new 3D image I paid money for.

UPDATE: I kept getting bills and I kept calling. Finally after a year in 2015 someone new came to work there and took care of it. They were kind and professional. Like I said below, the doctor was great and healed my poor runners feet! It was the front office staff...

I can't say enough about this practice. All these providers are capable of treating any foot/ankle problem you bring in. From their kindness, gentle care, to their knowledge, they do it all. They welcome you with a warm smile and treat you like family. Even though I have moved to a different state, If I had an accident or serious injury to myself or 3 children and husband, I'd fly to be treated by the practice. As do other patient's from all over the globe.Rest assure they will heal your foot ailments and get you back on your feet. Love love love, their practice!

Very, very good bedside manner with patients. I am a runner who had recent foot injuries; they really took the time to understand the problems with my feet and gave very good advice to prevent re-injury in future. If you are a runner, walker or perform activities using your feet, these are who you should go see!

Had a second surgery and healing well. I am very grateful to this office for making everything easy and smooth and always trying to accommodate my schedule. What a pleasant surprise, YES, at the podiatrists office! I was impressed from the time I left a message as a new patient, to a prompt return phone call and the rare ability to make a same day appointment! I was concerned of the outcome because of the amount of pain I was experiencing so I was relieved to get an appointment so soon!

Dr. Dustin and his staff are amazing. I had some minor foot surgery on Tuesday and was feeling anxious and nervous. He didn't sit there and talk about he procedure, but helped ease my mind by talking about family and hobbies and other things to take my mind off the procedure. After it was done, I wasn't feeling quite ready to get up and he sat with me and talked and made me feel comfortable and didn't rush me at all. Once I was feeing up to getting up and leaving he took the time to walk me to the car to make sure I was ok. Can't say enough great things about Dr. Dustin.

Dr Spencer and Alvera Podiatry are lifesavers. From excruciating plantar fasciitis that literally took me off my feet yesterday, to pain free hikes though steep Hawaiian jungle trails today. I'm free! A couple cortisone shots, a couple pairs of custom orthotic shoe inserts...and even custom orthotic flip flops, and I have my life back. Thanks, Doc, and thanks, Alvera Podiatry.

I go to Alvera Podiatry to see Dr. Adam Dustin. He's absolutely wonderful. I have had great experience with Dr. Spencer and his team. When you call to walking in the front door. Carla is such a nice person and always makes you feel happy and comfortable. She bends over backwards to make sure she can schedule your appt. to making your appts. I have had both bunions removed and hammer toe surgery. I just had surgery Thursday and had an appt. today. I asked Carla after I heard her on the phone or helping appt. customers. I said to her today you are so nice and helpful. We need more people like you. I came in with x-rays already done and pain in my right foot, mostly along the bottom outside towards the ankle bone. He felt around my foot, left the room and viewed the x-rays. He returned saying I had a Tailor's bunion. I questioned why it hurt so far up my foot (the Tailor's bunion doesn't hurt me to walk) and he said it was because it was on a nerve. To me, it feels like tendon pain and I know there's one in that area. He never did more imaging, more questioning, didn't observe my gait, nothing. He said the only cure would be orthotics and it would be $550. He

Exactly what happened to Noah W happened to my son and me. They billed me over $500 for orthotics that were never picked up because I found out that they told my insurance company that 1. I asked for orthotics and 2. that my son's feet are deformed. Both 100% FALSE. They even charged me $85 for picking up orthotics - only problem is I did NOT pick up the orthotics!!

I went to Alvera with heel pain in my right foot. I was told to wear a special boot for 6 or more weeks until my special Orthotics come in They never called me to tell me they were in, I had to call them. After I wore the boot for 4 weeks I could barley walk any more. I was fit and very active until I went to this office for help with my bit of heel pain. When I went in for the orthotic fitting I told the Dr. it hurt my heel he told me I would get used to it,now botjh heels hurt because of this wrong Orthotic, What a RIP OFF .My freind is a Doctor told me to get an over the counter orthotic at

Dr. Dustin is very professional and caring. He treats me and my whole family. This guy lectures all over the world to other doctors about new advancements and procedures. So... I don't really question if he is on top of his game. He is also one of the kindest guys I have ever met. He goes to poorer countries at his own expense to render care to locals in under-served areas. So a few weeks ago, I went to my primary care doctor to get my foot looked at. She told me that it could be a foreign body...but didn't offer any sort of assistance to take it out.
So I called over yesterday and talked to a very nice receptionist, and I got an appointment for the next day. It wasn't long of a wait at all since I had all of my paperwork filled out beforehand. Great customer service!!

I had heard that Podiatrists only want to sell you Orthotics but my foot really hurt. I went to see Alvera Podiatry based on their local advertising and promise guarantee. However, the first thing the doctor said is that I need orthotics. This, if true is fine. What I didn't know is how big a rip off these really are.
These guys billed my insurance company $95 for a 5 minute office visit plus my $25 co-pay. On top of that they charged $55 for each "casting" plus $550 for the orthotics.
