Saw The Nutcracker for the first time! It’s was a amazing performance at The Wortham Center in Houston. A Holiday Tradition for so many. You can rent binoculars and booster seats for kids. The gift area has nutcrackers for purchase along with other items from other performances. The talent they have is incredible. Very skilled orchestra to assist.
I will definitely see another show by the Houston Ballet.

The solid program with good instructors for ballet lesson. However, I think because they are sleeping on success so they forget the reality. The customer service is very awful here. They don't give out the school closed for holidays announcement until many parents called them and asked. It also happened with the payment system. I think Houston Ballet should be more appreciate with their customers and give their customers more respect.

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a performance and was absolutely moved. Not only was the choreography perfectly timed to the music, the skill can be seen with every step. Bravo. Having watched the Kelly Ballet practice all day and later in the day, parents drop their children off while they spent hours after school practicing, I can truly appreciate the work and dedication that goes into their performance. It took me many years to finally understand but ballet is truly beautiful.

My husband grew up watching the Houston Ballet's version of The Nutcracker on TV and has always wanted to see it live. For his birthday, I bought us tickets so he could finally see it live and in person. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the performance itself; however, I believe the ballet should require a minimum age to see performances.
There was a large party in front of us, and while one of the little girls was cute, she decided to get out of her seat and dance to every single song in Act II (she was three). The girl then started talking a good bit, and security told the adults next to

Came to Houston ballet to see the nutcracker. The tickets are a bit on the expensive side but so worth it. The play lasts close to two hours and it's a great experience. The dancers do a fantastic job, super talented. It's an amazing play that everyone should try and see at least once in their lifetimes

They completely changed the script! When. I was a young girl I was a ballerina from sugar they started with sugar plums and now it's masked pandas frogs monkeys and any other random form of animal you can think of the script has been completely changed I'm assuming by somebody that was under the influence of some kind of drugs don't waste your money or time it was hands down the worst script I've ever seen only the first eight minutes was similar to the original Nutcracker

I have seen several performances at the Houston Ballet and have enjoyed the talent they bring every single time. I had a similar experience as one Yelp reviewer who complained about communication after Harvey. It burned me to no end, but I decided to go see The Nutcracker this year.
I will say this: please keep the age of your children in relation to those around you when buying tickets. One group in front of us brought a three-year-old who couldn't sit still during Act II and wanted to talk the entire second half. I thought (and hoped) they would be asked to leave. The woman next to her

I agree with a previous review about an age limit for the ballet. I have been to see many ballets over the past 10+ years, but I have never had an experience as horrible as tonight. My sister and I waited until my niece was 11 years old to take her to see The Nutcracker and we took her for the first time tonight. The performance was immaculate. As a prior dancer, I always love going to the ballet. We did not appreciate the three kids under the age of five “sitting” behind us and their moms that were opening candy/letting them eat it, let them walk around, kick our seats, talk, and pull my niece’s

It's not what it used to be. I recently purchased founder's box seats for the Nutcracker show and it was a disappointment. This is not the same show as of early years with great choreography, amazing dancers...no it was filled with kids on stage! I'm sorry, but if I want to see toddlers on a stage I'll go to my local elementary school and support them. People want to see professional dancers and a bunch of toddlers in bumble bee customers is not getting your money's worth. What do bees have to do with the Nutcracker? Come on now.

One of the crown jewels in the Houston Arts Scene. This year's spectacular, revitalized Nutcracker is top-notch and should be on everybody's holiday must-see list. The company's programming is a perfect balance of full-length story ballets and mixed repertoire programs, familiar ballets and some daring contemporary choices. It could easily be said that Houston Ballet has overtaken both the symphony and opera as being at the forefront of large-scale, contemporary productions--they are presenting some cutting edge music and choreography. As an added bonus, most productions are danced

I love the Houston Ballet. Every performance leaves me anxious for my next visit. My last show was Ghost Dances and Giselle, and the choreography was so spectacular that I did not even want to blink. The costumes were lovely, and fit the themes of the dances. Ghost Dances was a true delight with many dances were so emotionally charged, and unique choreography that left me breathless. I'm anxiously awaiting Sleeping Beauty in February.
Parking at this facility is actually pretty easy for a downtown location. I do not like traveling downtown, and find it difficult to park my large SUV

This was my first time at the Houston Ballet! I have been waiting 5+ years to attend the Houston Ballet! Tickets were always so expensive, but this time I was able to snag tickets to The Nutcracker!
As a child, I watched the movie and learned the music in my orchestra class. All I remembered prior to the performance was my fear of the Rat King. Luckily, some bravery kicked in as well as pleasant choreography for the Ballet.
It was also pleasant to hear the laughter of children when it's a production of no words. This experience was tons better than my experience at Stafford Centre. I wish

Always masterful. Always artistic. Always perfect.
With a foundation of over $100 million, Houston Ballet might rank in the top three ballet companies in the United States, along with, say, New York City and San Francisco; and with the opening of the new Houston Ballet Center for Dance in 2011, Houston now boasts the largest professional dance facility in the United States.
In short, Houston is extremely fortunate to count Houston Ballet as a mainstay in its theater district.

The Houston Ballet has got it going on! A buddy suggested we go see the "Journey with the Masters" production this last weekend. The performance itself was actually three different ballets which covered a whole range of goodness: traditional, modern, and comedic. Yes, they have a sense of humor here, and the whole place was in laughter throughout the last performance. Here are reviews of the individual pieces I saw:
Ballet Imperial. (Traditional.) Adapted from the great Balanchine. This production had the works -- fancy backdrop, faux chandeliers, extravagant costuming of Juliette

Houston has an excellent theater district that is commonly overlooked by visitors. Our ballet continues to pump out traditional favorites as well as cutting edge performances. I have attended both the Rite of Spring and Nutcracker on several occasions, along with random others during the year. Ticket prices are accessible for various levels and many shows cater to all ages.
