TARANA DANCE ACADEMY, a premier Kathak institution under the guidance of Guru Sandip Mallick and Pt. Satya Narayana Charka, is located in Monroe Township, NJ. The inspiration to start the academy came from the realization that dance offered an excellent channel to introduce students to the rich cultural heritage of India.
This is the central theme of Indian tradition building up dedicated disciples who effectively carry the message of the respected teachers. The Indian school of thought is built on the principles of Gurukula, which effectively demonstrated the Guru-Shishya Parampara, Proper Talim, Discipline, Regular Riyaz and Dedications, which are the guiding principle of our Gurus.

TARANA DANCE ACADEMY is specialized in Kathak and Semi Classical dances to stay attached to the origins of Indian dance. The school has further expanded its repertoire to include Folk and Fusion dances. Rabindra Bharati University of Kolkata, Raja Man Singh Tomar University of Gwalior, Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwa Vidyalaya of Khhairagarh.

I feel that Tarana Dance Academy (TDA)is a gift that my kids have got. Our Guru’s Debjani ji and Sandip Mallik ji are very dedicated , knowledgeable and passionate about Kathak. They are very friendly and fun, yet also instill the importance of teamwork, pride and a good work ethic when pursuing your passion for dance. I started my daughter 2 years back with Debjani & the amount she has learnt is commendable- all credit goes to the teacher Mrs Debjani who puts her heart & soul in teaching the kids over & over if they don’t get it in the first go....she does it not because she is running a school but for the love of dance.

Debjani, founder of Tarana Dance Academy is an amazing dance teacher, friend, and a motivator for all working women. I met Debjani four and half years back while I was looking for a good dance teacher for my… daughter. My search ended when I met her as I saw the dedication and love she has for Kathak. She has moulded my daughter beautifully in these years. Seeing how much of fun it is to watch everyone perform, even I very hesitantly joined her dance class (I have two left feet when it comes to dance).
