Pranavam School of Dance was established to celebrate, teach and preserve two of India's most beautiful dance styles, Bharatanatyam and Bollywood dance, here in New Jersey.
My 6 year old daughter has been taking Bharatanatyam classes at Pranavam School of Dance for the last two years. She loves it, especially performing and learning about the mythological stories that are part of this tradition. It has amazed me how much she has absorbed from learning the mudras, the Sanskrit shlokas, stories, and eye, neck and head movements.
Bharathanatyam is a classical dance form from the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu and is normally accompanied by classical Carnatic music. It is believed to have derived its name after the sage Bharata Muni who is the author of the thesis on dramaturgy - The Natyashastra. We make sure every class is welcoming, encouraging and lots of fun.
Working with us will stimulate a new appreciation for Bollywood music, awakening the dancing skill you always had deep down inside of you. Whether you are a pro Bollywood dancer or a beginner with two left feet, there is always something to learn about dancing at Pranavam. Classes are high-energy and focused on fun, with performance opportunities throughout the year.
Amogh is a name that translates in Sanskrit as "invincible". The word "Amogh" literally means "That which has no alternative." In Iranian mythology, the name Amogh is said to have many beneficial qualities, bestowing wealth, wisdom and excellent health. Pranavam school of dance gives an opportunity to all our students to express themselves through dance.

Guru ( Teacher) in Sanskrit means a mentor, guide, expert, or master of a certain field.
Ms. Pranaya is a true example of all that and even more who is very warm, caring, hardworking, Passionate and enthusiastic. Our daughter has been learning bharatanatyam from Ms Pranaya since last 6 months. We are more than satisfied with her teaching skills and the methods she applies to develop interest in little ones via story telling. Extra points for her patience. I recently joined Pranavam school of dance and absolutely love the virtual classes I have been attending so far. What I like the most about the classes is that if students make a mistake, Pranaya aunty points out their mistakes in a constructive manner, so the students do not feel belittled and instead are encouraged to practice and do better next time. It's a safe and fun space where those who are passionate about dance will definitely have a great time.
