Beginner Curriculum -- 60 songs and 46 sections consisting of notes, symbols, counting, harmony, rhythms and arpeggios. Intermediate Curriculum -- 60 songs and 35 sections consisting of major and minor scales, pentatonic scales, blues scales, extensions, rhythm combinations of upbeats and downbeats, plus combines the arpeggios, harmony and chords for more elaborate arrangements.
If a person can read a page in english from a book the first time that person looks at it, then we say that person can read english. Its the same way in music. If a person can play a song from the sheet music, only after practicing it for one month. Then, that person does not know how to read music.

Great way to learn to play the piano or guitar. The system is fun and easy and you are playing as soon as you start your 1st class. I have been taking piano lessons for about 2 months and I cannot beleive how far I have progressed. I love the group environment, especially when we all play together (jam). Highly recommedn!!

I have been playing guitar on and off for more than ten years but had never taken any sort of lessons before attending lessons here in January. The curriculum starts with the basics and students can move through it as quickly as they are able.
The price cannot be beat. Try the free lesson (once the Carona apocalypse is over) and the first month is super cheap. Even after that the cost is a heck of a lot less than private lessons and you get to play songs with other people of all different

I have been taking George Martinez's group music lessons for 2 years. I worked on learning to play both guitar and piano. You get individual instruction periodically during class since class size is not too large. I really liked his unique method of progressively adding new chords, rhythms, arpegios, and other skills to about 50 pop songs every one plays during class. You might be playing piano next to someone learning the guitar. If you miss a class, George allows you to come for a free make up class! Private lessons are also available, but I found the group lessons were sufficient for me. Learning

George runs a really awesome leaning center for strings (guitars) and piano students. I am a forever wanting to learn guitar and the startup has always been a tough going. Pop Band Academy has a really cool system that lets you drop in and pickup right away. This system took a lot of thought, planning, and preparation to make it easy for someone like me a beginner guitar student to pickup within minutes. Most of all George or one of his staff is always there to help. Love the place. This is a great value and fun.

All my life I've wanted to learn how to play an instrument particularly the guitar and/or piano. I've been dealing with some medical issues and thought perhaps now is the best time to learn as music can be therapeutic. I met George, who is the instructor, sat me down at a piano and you jump in immediately! You begin to play along with other students at different levels and different instruments. It's quite magically to play along to famous songs using the information given to assist you to make music on your first day! I was sold immediately. Pop Band Academy of Music is a great place to take music lessons. The family friendly atmosphere along with the friendly and knowledgeable instructors (George Martinez is phenomenal!) are a great combination. I have never felt more welcomed to be a student than I have at Pop Band Academy of Music. From the time I start my lessons to the time I leave, I always feel at home. I started taking lessons here last month, and I'm very happy with what I've learned so far. The way George teaches is very different in a way, but also very effective. In one month I've learned how to play the treble and the bass notes of the piano. Each class i attend, I learn something new which makes the songs more challenging and fun. George and his wife have been extremely nice people to me. I do suggest you try their classes FREE for one month, and you will see what I'm talking about :)

I set up an appointment to meet with George Martinez for an Open House and free music lesson. Well, the setup is a big room with background music playing and books for students to play along to. Me, being a beginner student, thought I would receive a "lesson" and not have to count beats and play along to songs which he changes every 30 seconds. I could not get comfortable in playing along to a song before the next song started. I do not learn that way. Well, I paid for a month with what I thought I could take private guitar lessons with their instructors. I called and he got rude to the point I

George Martinez is by far the best music teacher ever! He is a phenomenal musician too! He is extremely patient and has an extraordinary knowledge and understanding of music and music theory. So, he is a great teacher if you are only a beginner (like I was on piano and drums), or if you already have some experience playing an instrument or singing, he can take you to the next level. I have taken drum, piano and voice lessons for over 5 years with George. I have been performing all over San Antonio for 4 years now. It's awesome!
