Most traditional piano lessons focus on reading and perfecting music pieces. While it's important to read and play music fluently, often times, the technique drills turns into mindless repetition and learning music theory becomes filling out boring worksheets. Our curriculum is based on Dr. Edwin Gordon's lifelong research on how children learn music.
Think of how babies learn language. They listen, speak, then read and write. Music is a language. Child learns music through listening, improvising, reading and composing. Our curriculum is based on Dr. Edwin Gordon's lifelong research on how children learn music. Imagine 20 years from now. Your child, a grown up, comes home after a long day of work, sits down at the piano and starts making melodies without reaching for a music book.
I feel like a kid again when I am in the Eurhythmics classroom. Many students dread learning advanced music concepts such as mixed meter, syncopation, polyrhythms. In Eurhythmics, learning complicated music concepts is no longer intimidating but fun! Eurhythmics invite students to learn in a creative and joyous environment.
What are some fun and engaging ways you use to motivate your students or your child to practice? A parent of one of my students generously agreed to share some of her strategies. Let's go visit her "piano playground" and have a wonderful "piano playtime" with squirrel, Zingo, school bus and more. We have enjoyed adapting this cute Sneaky Snacky children's board game for piano practice.
In this 3-minute video, you'll see how I use the Music Staff to explain the landmark notes and how I number the staff. Does your student love learning music theory? So many students think of learning music theory as completing worksheets, memorizing facts, or playing scales, arpeggios. Far from being dry and boring though, music theory has always been fascinating to me.

My daughter loves her piano lessons! Karen's teaching style is creative and fun. Her innovative techniques include props, themed lessons, helpful videos, and much more. My daughter looks forward to her lesson each week and has learned a lot of fundamentals in just one year. If you are looking for music lessons, I highly recommend this studio!

I am very impressed with the level of teaching that Karen provided. In less than a year she had my Daughter reading music, and playing at an advanced level with no prior experience. She uses extraordinary techniques with her students that you will not find with others. She is a soft spoken, very patient teacher who knows how to bring out your child’s inner confidence and praise them in order to achieve success.

We went to an introductory lesson after getting a recommendation from one of my daughter’s classmate’s parent, whose son has also been attending lessons. From the beginning, Karen was responsive in setting up a lesson time. I was able to sit through the first lesson with my daughter and see Karen’s teaching methods firsthand. She’s patient and encouraging to all her students. And she’s the very best at communicating and speaking with parents about their children’s progress and where they may need more practice. This has been a wonderful experience for us and we look forward to watching

Our four year old daughter has learned so much from Mrs. Karen in the short time she has been taking lessons. Karen is an excellent teacher, patient and very knowledgeable. I am very confident in her teaching approach and we look forward to seeing our daughter flourish. It is apparent the passion Mrs. Karen has for music and teaching.

Mrs. Lien is an excellent teacher for any child just starting out learning about music and piano. When working with 4 to 6 year olds in her group classes, she uses methods that teach foundational skills so each child will learn music theory and incorporate it as they learn piano. Her group classes are well organized. Activities are age appropriate. Each activity lasts 10 to 15 minutes - about the length of a child’s attention span, so students do not have time to get fidgety and become inattentive. If you want your child to begin lessons with a very good teacher, you should definitely contact
