Services
Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet and rooted in their rich history and charism, Saint Joseph High School enables each student to develop her intellect, abilities, and gifts through challenging classes and diverse co-curricular opportunities. The Jesters serve the dear neighbor without distinction and work toward a just future for all.
This year we are celebrating 57 years as a Catholic School in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJ). When the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet founded our school, their vision was to establish a high school that would challenge students to become "all of which woman is capable" and to develop their potential in a spirit of "excellence tempered by gentleness, peace and joy" (CSJ Constitution).
The Blue Ribbon Schools Program identifies and gives national recognition to a diverse group of public and private schools that are unusually effective in meeting local, state, and national goals and in educating all of their students. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program is designed as a national school improvement strategy.
Saint Joseph High School has enjoyed a brother school relationship with St. John Bosco High School since 1964, sharing many activities and programs. The Administrations, faculties and staffs have also worked together to provide these students with safe, healthy environments in which to develop their abilities and talents to use their gifts.
Welcome and thank you for your interest in applying to Saint Joseph High School, the home of the Jesters! This year Saint Joseph High School is celebrating 57 years as a Catholic, all-girls high school in the tradition of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Carondelet. The sisters envisioned a high school that challenges students to become "all of which woman is capable."

I attended for two years. 2013-2015. I can not fathom how this school claims to be uplifting women, when they snub you and belittle any ideas that revolve around making choices for yourself or others. I remember girls cheating and getting good grades and not getting in trouble. While if I had my phone out during break, it would get taken away. The teachers also lacked empathy. All of them had favorites and if you had money, you were accommodated to the heavens. I was treated like a nobody. Students also were rude. If you didn't fit the bill, they treat you like an outsider. I did not come

I attended St. Joseph High School from 2002-2006.
Maybe it was luck, or maybe it was me, but I had the best experience. I met my best friends here, not only friends but a core group of sisters. A bond we will forever hold. There's a saying, "tell me who your friends are and I'll tell you who you are". This sisterhood bond, I share amongst- Insurance business Owners(LMU grad), HR Directors(LMU grad), Field Managers(ASU grad), Boeing Representatives(CSUF grad), School principals( UCLA masters) and Doctors( USC). We have all pushed each other to become as the post below me says

All of which woman is capable - Those words have become such a significant part of who I am thanks to Saint Joseph High School.
I was blessed with experiencing SJ as a student, as well as an educator. While both experiences differed in many ways, one thing that remained the same was the mission to become all of which we are capable in academics, our faith, and our community.
Coming from a public school background from K-8, I can say with all sincerity that the education I received at SJ was far above what I would have received at any other school. From day one, we were not only challenged, mind

Teachers, staff, admin., etc. were EXCELLENT. Above all, a very amiable environment 👍Loved every minute here..Everybody makes you feel very welcomed
What's sad, is that I didn't have the opportunity to stay all 4 years and graduate for personal reasons, but it was a great experience and I'd do anything to go back and start over! I highly, most definitely recommend SJHS

If there was an option to choose no stars, I would. When I first attended SJ, I thought i would love it here, but as times passed I realized that this school is extremely money hungry, unfair, controlling, and even discriminative. Most of the teachers here do not even know how to handle a class let alone teach it. Teachers show favoritism in their classes and give unfair opportunities to some students and not others.
The class schedules are not consistent and some teachers make up rules along the way. Most of the teachers here act like they do not care if the students fail or succeed in the class

Attending Saint Joseph High School was one of the best decisions I could've ever made for myself. The last four years of my life have been filled with nothing but happiness and laughter. My high school experience was absolutely unforgettable, all thanks to the never ending opportunities for students at SJ. Saint Joseph has such a unique learning environment that allowed me to grow both intellectually, and spiritually. I'm so proud to be part of the jester community, alongside such strong, caring, and motivated women.

As I reflect on my past three years at SJHS and look forward to my senior year I realize how much I appreciate being able to attend SJHS. Unsure of where I wanted to go after 8th grade, I made sure to attend Day in the Life of Jester. From the moment I stepped on campus I knew SJHS was the right fit for me. Little did I know that the open arms I received that day would continue everyday for the rest of my high school career.
Saint Joseph High School has provided me with the opportunity to grow as a person, leader, and friend. I can be a servant leader through ASB and the many clubs offered including

Nepotism and unqualified administration keeps a tight circle of "yes-men" directing this school. Leadership starts at the top and clearly this approach has led to the loss of dedicated teachers and loss of student body. Only an overhaul of the administration will save this school. On a positive note, the only saving grace are the teachers.

Wow, I can see a few people had some bad experiences here. I'm sorry to hear that. I loved this school. The faculty really cares about the students. And although there are the extraneous rules here and there, it is my experience that every academic institution has their own mundane protocol. Most girls I knew were actually nice. Snobby groups of men and women are everywhere, unfortunately. Not just in high school, and certainly not just in this one.
Their theatre program is amazing, and there is a music program now, although it is still growing. Strong sports teams, and a lot of opportunities

Quite possibly the worst school I ever attended. Snobbery, elitism, nepotism, need I go on? Of course! Did you know the Catholic church practices discrimination? Or well at least SJHS does. People that are not Catholic end up paying around $1,000 dollars more. You do NOT get what you pay for at this school. They lack a music program, well trained teachers (in most areas) and of course discipline. The people who are not smoking weed and getting pregnant are the ones who usually end up in trouble. This school has a terrible reputation, and has earned it. I would never dare send my daughter

Its my alma mater how can I give it less than 5 stars, plus its an all girl catholic high school. Do I need to say more?
Okay really, on a serious note this school is phenomenal. Growing up in Long Beach, the schools are not that great. I wasn't super smart and I wasn't super stupid either so I was bound to get lost in the public school system. I can honestly say this school prepared me to get into college and do well once I got in. They made sure I had all the necessary classes to go to any school I wanted, private, cal state or UC. At Josephs its not if you go to college its which
