We stayed a few nights the sites on the river were amazing! The owners were nice and very friendly. The campground in general could use some Maintenance but the views and the river outweigh the grounds! We will be back!!

This is our favorite place to camp in NC! We get the same campsite - 5 years in a row! But this last year they have done so many improvements and the place is better than ever. Being right on the Rocky Broad is the best part and everyone there is so nice. You are close to many things, too. Highly recommend this place!

I preface this review by saying that my extended family loved this place. You can almost literally walk to the downtown Chimney rock area. The staff was all super friendly. However for me I found it a little ramshackle, like all the bathrooms, power outlets and fire pits needed to be redone, to the point that it distracted from the stay. That being said, most of the campgrounds in the chimney rock area had a similar, ramshackle aesthetic. I’m kind of cantankerous, so most people will probably enjoy it and have an incredible time.

I've been coming here since I was a baby. Im now 22. This place is like a second home to me. My dad and I love coming up here. It's beautiful, the river is so nice, and it just has a nice vibe. Not the fanciest or the cleanest, but it's camping at a family owned business. Don't go into the woods if you're expecting the Carlton. It's rugged, fun, and full of amazing memories.

I do not want anyone to know about this campground because I want my space to be available for me anytime I am ready! This place is amazing! You do not want to go anywhere after you are lodged in. I wanted to be there every minute I was hooked up to my site. I cried when it was time to go. I'm 57. Can't wait to go back!!! Hope you do not need to use their bathrooms. Other than that, it was the best vacation ever!! Thank you Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground!!

Spent the labor day weekend at Hickory Nut Falls Family Campground. The views and atmosphere of the place was truly amazing. Literally 5 minutes from Chimney Rock State Park and 10 minutes from Lake Lure.
The owners were very attentive and kept the place very clean and tidy.
Will definitely be back.

Clean bathrooms, friendly staff, beautiful view. Only giving a 4 star because the campsites are basically on top of each other. My tent was less than 5 feet from the neighbors on one side, and the picinic table less than 2 feet from the neighbors table on the other side. the sites are so small it’s not like we could have put it anywhere else.

We loved this place! The owners were so nice and welcoming and it was a very peaceful stay. We were on site 52, which was heaven for us b/c it was mostly seasonal sites and none of them were there. It was a very tight fit for our Tundra and really rocky, which we didn’t mind, but our 3 year old kept us on our toes with all the climbing. The showers had plenty of hot water and water pressure. Highly recommend.
