Bob, Kathie and Mitch are all wonderful and accommodating people. The campground is rustic, but clean and right on a creek. I rafted the Nantahala often when I was younger. On August 21, I brought my 14 year old son for his first experience on the river. I chose Brookside because the campground I stayed at 30 years ago is long gone. I wanted to take my son down the Nantahala without a guide. Brookside was positively perfect! We pitched our tent by the creek Saturday morning, then headed out in a 2 man raft. On Sunday, we went down the river a second time in a 2 man ducky. It was a great bonding

Kathie in the office was super helpful and accommodating as we came in late due to unexpected traffic delays. They waited up for us and even sent someone over to make sure we were all set. Immediately the neighbors offered light to help us set up and the next day another neighbor helped us with a fire. I really enjoyed the site next to the creek and loved how the bathrooms were within a short walk to the tent but not too close. Everything was clean and stocked up. It’s a bit dated but honestly that’s part of the charm. We’ll definitely be back!

This was the perfect experience for our family's first outing white water rafting. Even the little boys enjoyed it. Despite the rain during our last mile or two it was an absolute pleasant experience. Be sure to tip your guide if you have one go with you down the river. If not for our guide, we would have been in the water several times. Thanks so much for the beautiful day!
