Our mission is to help boat owners enjoy time on the water by providing maintenance, modification, and repair services in ways that align with each customer's unique boating style, personal preferences, and financial means.

Steve Zimmerman is the founder and President of Zimmerman Marine, Inc. Steve has logged several thousand miles on the water, including the entire East Coast from Canada to the Caribbean, the Pacific Northwest from Anacortes WA to Glacier Bay Alaska, and over forty trips between the Chesapeake and Long Island Sound.
For more than three decades, Zimmerman Marine has specialized in boat maintenance, repairs and refits. We get to know you and your boat and come up with the most sensible repair or refit for your unique situation. We keep you informed about costs and never want you to be surprised by an invoice.

Whether you own a 17-foot center console or a 70-foot trawler doesn't matter to us - it's how you care for your boat that determines if Zimmerman Marine is the boatyard for you.By sharing the customer information in one database and by communicating and cooperating internally, we provide our customers with a seamless experience at each location and the option to choose the location that is most convenient at any given time.
Zimmerman Marine now offers a unique service that represents the buyer's interests before, during, and after the purchase of a used boat, by utilizing the expertise of one of the industry's leading boat repair yards. We use a team-based approach to the process, utilizing our collective experience and varying backgrounds for your benefit.
We accept the following credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. The amount shown on your invoice and/or statement is for payment by debit card or check. A 3.5% fee will automatically be added to the Payment Amount entered when using a credit card. This fee is not more than the cost of accepting these cards.
We are an employee owned company (ESOP). While other yards are driven by number crunchers in a distant location, we are driven by, and benefit from our shared success. Through the ESOP, all employees can build equity as they accumulate ZMI stock. We offer great benefits, including health insurance, disability insurance, and paid time off.

Never fixed our boat correctly after paying them. Run far far away from this place. Unwilling to continue working with us and they stopped responding.

We purchased a used Regal in March 2020 and had survey done and sea trials. A list of things needing to be done was prepared and we had Zimmerman Marine at Charleston Harbor do the work. After +$30k, the boat has not been able to get back to the Sea trial engine speed and 5 months later, still not resolved. They lack the ability to even review engine codes. We are moving boat and will have a certified Merc tech see what’s wrong. In addition, they installed a washer/dryer, jammed 15mm hose into 1/2” fitting which caused leakage abs finally failed. Not sure what to say, other than just a long

I had a significant amount of work done here in January and February 2020 on our Nordhavn. I chose Zimmerman Charleston after having a good experience in the Zimmerman Cardinal VA yard. The labor rates were comparable to other yards in the area and the service was exemplary. Work included a new inverter/charging system, electrical survey and new appliances and engine room ventilation. New manager Mike Henderson provided overall guidance and supervision and was always available immediately for consultation. Techs were neat, courteous and knowledgeable. Wiring was properly labeled and they provided

When I first reached out to Zimmerman I was pleasantly surprised with their customer service and prompt follow up. Trisha M. in their main office was always a pleasure to deal with. Unfortunately one of the first few jobs they did wasn't done properly and the issue with my toilet was never fixed (even though they said everything was functioning properly) Steve Wallace promptly resolved the matter and apologized and I continued doing business with them as a result of how he handled the matter. After reaching out to Steve for a new job in January 2019 and agreeing to a fixed price in writing ($125
