Our office is located in Kahala, Honolulu, HI, and we have been providing dentistry services for more a decade and have a long list of happy and satisfied clients. Dr. Jason Ako is a graduate of Iolani High School and Creighton University Dental School and is passionate about the opportunities in advanced dental education and patient treatment. He regularly attends advanced continuing education here in Hawaii and throughout the Mainland, attending the World Renown Las Vegas Institute For Advanced Dental Studies, LVI Global as well as the London Institute for Dental Implantology.

General dentistry provides the first line of defense against oral health problems. The dentist is the primary care provider for patients of all ages and maintains the ability to prevent, diagnose and treat a variety of dental conditions.
What do you do when you wake up and right before you go to bed? If you said brush your teeth, then that's great! Brushing and flossing twice a day is essential in maintaining your oral health. Recommend by Dr. Horie Guy from Maui which who I trust my whole life & never fails me but when I moved to Oahu there was so many options, I'm so glad he referred me To Dr. Jason Ako, also the best! Beautiful interior and the nicest staff ever, very friendly and helpful. Dr Jason also have magic hands, i feel no pressure when hes working with my teeth especially when he filled in my cavities. Had the pleasure with Dr. Austin who did an exceptional job cleaning my teeth!!
We also looked into Invisalign for my teeth and he gave me great advice around the current solutions and realistically what would be best for my needs.
The only thing I would comment on is that the teeth whitening treatment was not as great as I thought it would be/led to believe, but besides that I have had an incredible time here.
Highly, highly, highly recommend Dr. Austin and Kahala Cosmetic & Family Dentistry.

I'm new in town and needed to find a dentist. Luckily, I did my research and chose the right place! I was greeted by friendly staff members as soon as I walked in the door. The office is very clean, updated and I was extremely impressed by all of the high-end technology that they use. My appointment was right on schedule. Dr. Austin did a great job and took the time to explain treatment options and made sure that I understood all of the dental jargon. Highly, highly recommend!

Dr. Ako recently sent me a letter to remove my review stating it had slanderous and damaging comments. I am rewriting my review because I feel that I do not want Dr. Ako to feel like this is a victory by threatening me with legal action. I will only say that my family and I are much happier at our new dentist in Kailua. My son's 4 cavities (that Dr. Ako said needed to be filled) upon getting a second opinion were deemed by another Dentist as not necessary for repair at this time. I'm sure this practice has many satisfied patients but we are not in that group.

The staff is very friendly & accommodating. They explain all procedures and review billing costs thoroughly which is always appreciated.
Dr. Ako is patient, knowledgable and seems to have a genuine investment in the health of his patients. He takes his time to explain the procedure -both before and during- and asks how you are doing throughout. I’m also happy to report that this doctor truly provides a pain

I was referred to Dr. Jason Ako a few years ago and have always enjoyed Dr. Ako's and his staff's attentive care to my oral health. Recently Dr. Ako even went extra miles to explain the biopsy report by Kaiser to me. I couldn't understand the report and was under great stress. I was so moved by Dr. Ako's professionalism, kindness, and compassion.

Friends and family of mine will fly to Oahu from big island just to see him instead other their local outer island dentists. I first saw him ten years ago for a traumatic injury that happened resulting in two new front teeth that are more beautiful than the original teeth and fixed the gap in then as well. Dr. Ako is "my dentist", he's "my guy". I really don't have that in a lot of things, like I don't have a set doctor, hair stylist, mechanic, etc. Several years ago I got the recommendation to see him as I was looking for a general dentist, but had never had major work. My first visit there was for a routine checkup and cleaning. The technology in the office is great. Not only did they do the run of the mill "bite down and X-ray" practice, but they also had an X-ray that did a full panoramic scan of your mouth and jaws, capturing more than just my teeth to make sure I was healthy. (Whew...no cavities this time)
My hygienist was kind and very cognizant of how I was feeling. She worked diligently

He recommended to pull my three front teeth (huge mistake) then my bridge came back a shade of gray plus he kept on adding additional charges to the original estimate at the end my bottom teeth was never corrected as he promised (over a year) then when I finally went back he wanted to charge me for the same tooth he was suppose to correct ....I have a beautiful smile now credit to Dr Kurohara

New to the island and was searching for a dentist. Happy to have found Dr. Ako. Very thorough and high tech examination, followed by a detailed review of all options. The office is conveniently located and the staff was very professional. I was particularly impressed by Nicolle, who was helpful and went the "extra mile" while explaining insurance coverages.

Honestly this is going down in history. Jason Ako gave me NO pain whatsoever when I got 3 cavities filled. I am truly amazed at this. He is very honest which you all should know is very important when it comes to dental work. No wonder he got Best dentist of the Year in Honolulu in 2010 he deserves a award every year!! If you're like most people, going to the dentist doesn't rate as high as say going to shop the big sale at your most favorite store in the world or even going to pig out at your most favorite restaurant! lol.
But I must say that all my experiences at Dr. Ako's office have been well...almost pleasureable. I'm not saying that because it was a bunch of laughs but it was actually okay!
