The cakes and pastries are always fresh and delicious. I’ve been a customer for over 15 yrs. never disappointed. (I travel 30-45 mins to get there) I have so many favorites but my absolute favorite is the strawberry cake. Bring your patients because there may be a line/wait. The cakes, pastries and breads are worth the wait. I’m just saying… Enjoy!

Pretty poor service. Drove kinda far to get some things for a party. I asked for a cake that I saw and the clerk pulled a different one from the back of the row with frosting that was all bubbly. I asked if I could have the other one and she told me the were the same. I said that the one you put on the counter has bubbly frosting and the other one doesn't - they look different. Again she said - they are the exact same thing. Flustered because I wanted the "pretty" one I said - well let me look around a bit. She said you don't want this? I laughed and said ya know what - I don

We have been stopping here for years now and will continue coming here. It's a very nice bakery that has options that are sure to please just about anybody. In fact it takes a while of walking back and forth looking into all the nicely arranged display cases trying to decide on what to get. The staff is friendly and willing to answer questions on the items. Everything there always is SO good. My only disappointment is beyond their control, and that is like most places, they can't fill positions (because people don't want to work) and so they had to cut out some stuff like their sandwiches for hopefully

Yummm. First of all, I've ALWAYS gotta give props to Eastern Market businesses who are open more than only Saturdays or very limited hours. As a local, I appreciate that I can pop in here any time. The baked goods are amazing and really decently priced ($15 for a pecan pie during the holiday season), but the staff is even sweeter than the food - we loooove Dorothy, who always has a smile on her face and is ready to cheer you on : )

3 months late for this review but here it goes. We stopped in on a Saturday after visiting Eastern Market. We have driven by this place for years saying "we should stop in there" so we finally did. Covid protocols in place so all staff wearing masks. A VERY large selection of sweets, muffins, cookies and all things bready. We ordered some brownies, muffins, a couple of mini pies, and a few types of cookies. The muffins were a miss, the mini pies were a miss, the brownies were a hit and the cookies were a hit. Mini pie crust was too crumbly and flavorless. Fillings were just blah. Muffins

I love the food and the people that work here. I have never had a bad experience here. The food, especially the sandwiches and salads are outstanding, very tasty and priced very well. I swear, my office orders lunch from here at least 3 times a week. Now the sad part: Beginning next Monday, 9/20 Milano will no longer offer sandwiches, salads and pizza. They are having a problem finding workers due to the pandemic. I am hearing that this may be temporary but it is bad news. Please try to to support establishments like this. We have lost too many!

I love this place...however last Saturday the staff went above and beyond to correct a case of miscommunication resulting in the wrong cake. It was my parents 50th wedding vow renewal day and it happened to have been an unbelievable flood that day. Despite my less than calm demeanor the staff made a quick substitution and saved the day with a beautiful cake!! Today I returned to so pictures and offered my sincere apologies. Thanks again.

From the breakfast sandwiches to the bread to the sweets, it’s always a good experience!! The food is great, sometimes the customer service is poor but it’s not bad enough to deter me from coming back.

The smell of fresh bread is the first thing that hits you when you get within a block of Milano Bakery. When you enter you see all of the beautiful delicious desserts. But don't miss out on their sandwiches!! You can get the sandwiches made in one of the delicious breads. I've loved everything I've ever gotten from here. On this visit I got the Ren Cen sandwich on an onion roll (grilled chicken breast, bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, cheese). You also get a choice of side with your sandwich, I always get the pasta salad. If you are in the area make sure you stop in and get some

Satisfy your sweet tooth without breaking the bank! Milano has an extensive collection of sweets and treats (and they should, given the size of their massive building!) There truly is something for everyone in their display case.

In addition to sweets, there's an offering of breads, sandwiches, salads and soups. I wasn't a huge fan of the Chicken Salad Sandwich but my boyfriend swears by it.

The location is great- a perfect place to stop by after a bike ride on the Dequindre cut. They followed COVID precautions well and offered outdoor seating on a small patio.

When it's open - normally - it's always packed and for very good reason. It takes forever to choose! Whether you're just picking up breads or cakes or cookies or scones or brownies or any of the bazillion other desserts OR ordering lunch or pizza they have it all and you will never eat anywhere else. And friendly! The staff is hopping, knowledgeable, and totally focused on your order. Prices are fantastic. The tables and dining area are small but there are also high top communal spots. If you go to the Eastern Market for ANY reason do not fail to stop in. Now during the C-19 restrictions

This is a decent size bakery on your way to or from a Saturday morning jaunt to eastern market.

It's a sizable place and has a huge offering of pastries and every kind of bread imaginable.

They have some tasty breakfast sandwiches on their fresh croissants or on biscuits too, the croissants are my favorite. They also have large cheese danishes that should put a smile on your face.

Nothing like some fresh bread or baked goods after a trip to the market.

Not so great anymore. Never get the little side I ask for. I ask for
pasta salad, I get cole slaw. Had chicken salad on a croissant today.
A crunchy croissant it was. Croissants are not supposed to be crispy and crunchy, they should be soft. And you're a bakery? This must have been from last week, cause it was not fresh

I used to work less than a mile away from where Milano Bakery stands during my formative years. My dad likes the French bread that they make. When I visit my folks in the D, which has been more frequent due to unfortunate circumstances, I will stop here periodically to get his supply of bread.

My last visit I decided to check out their deli section for the first time. I picked up sandwiches for both my dad and me. I was impressed with the selection of choices. I was a bit overwhelmed making a decision though there were a few people ahead of me which gave me some additional time

This bakery is at the north end of Russell street. The price isn't bad so you won't break a bank by trying the goodies. There are samples on the counter. I tried the muffin and chocolate cake. All of them are delicious and moist. Perfect sweetness.

I tried the English pies. They are big but most of them are the crust, fillings are basically pie filling mostly is the flour slurries not the fruit. Danish is huge and pretty good.

Tiramisu is ok, not made with lady fingers.

There are a lot of different kinds of bread on the side of the store.

Milano Bakery has been a staple in the Eastern Market for many years.
I am absolutely taken with the cakes, but there are literally dozens and dozens of various pastries, cakes, puddings, breads and cookies to devour.
I have had a few of the sandwiches as well. Those are good, but there is nothing like the decadence of the Tuxedo cake; and the lemon and strawberry shortcakes.
All of these cakes are made in large sheet cakes. Upon ordering, they cut you a large chunk and wrap it nicely in individual boxes. The experience of watching this is half the fun. I always imagine sitting there noshing on

Bread is an essential part of a great pizza. So, when I learned that Milano's bakery makes pizza, I was eager to try it. I soon learned that baking good bread doesn't always equate to baking good pizza.

I made my own pizza w all my favorite toppings, and I was thrilled to see abundance of toppings. But, upon the first bite, it was clear pizza had some major flaws.

While the toppings tasted pretty fresh and plentiful, the sauce was very plain and tomatoey, as though it was straight from a can. And the bread was nothing special and bit undercooked and doughy, which was one thing

I was impressed! Milano was everything I had hoped for...and more.

Because I work in Detroit, I've driven past the Milano Bakery at the Corner of Mack & Russell a few blocks North of the Eastern Market many, many times. Today, I stopped in for the first time for a quick lunch.

What a bakery!...with row after row of delicious looking pastries, cookies, cakes and breads. Today however, I was here for a sandwich.

At the Milano, you order at the counter, are given a number-card, grab a table and wait for your lunch basket to be delivered to your table in short order with a smile. It

The Service: Two cashiers.... SUPER SUPER SUPER SLOW!!! It is a historic bakery and very close to Easten Market so lots of people stop by for bakery goods. People have to take a number and wait in line. But the service is super slow.....

Th Food: Besides selling bakery goods, they also sell pizza and sandwiches. Price is reasonable but quality and taste are so so. The bread is great because they are freshly made in the bakery. They have potato salad, coles slaws and pasta salad as side dishes. None of them are flavorful. Taste like pre-made and they just packaged into small containers.
