Did a Google search and found this place for lunch. You wouldn't know it from the outside, but the inside is cozy and elegant. The staff is friendly and attentive. I had the fried eggplant and a vegetarian sandwich combo, both of which were absolutely delicious. The prices are reasonable and they have a full bar. Very happy to have tried Auburn Cafe.

The only reason they got 2 two stars is because the waitress was so nice...I asked for a traditional Greek gyro w/potatoes my guest asked for a cornbeef gyro...the waitress came back and her told they no longer have cornbeef. She asked for a steak gyro w/Swiss instead...when the food came she had a chunk-o-meat on a pita swimming in juice from the steak? meat. I got lunch meat lamb? on a pita with room temp potatoes...I've had a better Greek meal from Arbys

I've never had a bad meal here. And despite of this place selling high-end Greek food in a place like Ecorse, they do a h*ll of a business.
Another attribute to The Auburn is the ambience. It's such a nice setting when dining in this place. It kind of reminds me of walking into a place in Greektown.
As far as the food, it's all pretty good, like I said. Even the gyro is one of a kind and that's a type of food that sort of always tastes the same everywhere.
Overall this place gets a thumbs up from me. 👍

This was my first time at this establishment and I did not know which door to enter until I saw someone come and opened the door. I walked in to place an order and did not really know where to place it. This guy was ahead of me for a pick up order so I stood in that area which was at the end of the bar. Then they served someone else, who came in after me, before assisting me. Besides all that, I ordered two Greek chicken salads and it was good. I just wish they have me more flat bread.

This is a diamond in the rough! I ordered a small Greek salad with gyro meat. The gyro meat was the best I ever had! Spicy, not greasy. Lots of meat on the salad. Our waitress (sorry, I don't recall her name) was pleasant and efficient. One negative note: I m not sure of the cleanliness and of the tables, especially during Covid. There were salt shakers and a ketchup bottle on the table. I will visit again when I need my cannibis from down the street.

Best authentic Greek restaurant in the Detroit Metro area. Don't get to go here as much as I'd like to because I'm from out of state, but I've been to Greek restaurants all over the country and this one just makes me feel at home every time I walk through the door. There's not a time that I'm in Detroit and I don't make a stop here. The place is something out of a classic film. Excellent food, wonderful staff, old world atmosphere. If you're in the Detroit Metro area this should be at the top of your list for Greek eats. Take it from a Greek. Ya'mas

Just went today for my Fiancé birthday with his family for a surprise party. Only one old waitress who forgot we were there for 30 minutes before even a drink order. Party of 8 not even asked if the bill would be separate. No refills offered , I took the empties up to the bar myself. The waitress couldn't separate the bill WE HAD TO then go up & pay to be charged EXTRA ROUNDED UP PRICES + tax she said . Also don't get the watered down 11$ Long Islands. Like literally tasted like kool aide. No manager to complain to. This wasn't the place I had such good food & service years

Auburn cafe is fantastic for what you get. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. I have been here twice and ordered the Gyro Greek Salad both times. It is extremely consistent and tasty. Would recommend based on this dish. Normally I would venture to more of the menu, but I like the dish so much I see no need to do so.

Wow! You don’t have to go downtown to get great Greek food. I really liked the eggplant appetizer, lemon potatoes and grape leaves. It gets really busy here at lunchtime so come when it opens if you can or a little bit after noon. I couldn’t get a parking spot and had to park on the street. It wasn’t a big problem but if you can avoid it, I’d recommend it.

If your looking for a tasty grilled chicken Greek salad, gyro, or Greek appetizer and some drinks, I recommend the Auburn. Super nice service and the food is consistent and tasty. Nice sized portions offset the kind of high prices on some items. The menu is kind of on the small side, but I think that's a good thing. It means that they can focus on perfecting the items on the menu. I've not had a bad meal here and will gladly return.

Highly disappointed to say the least. My husband and I came here for lunch after hearing how great it was from friends. First I ordered a Diet Coke and the waitress poured it from a 2-liter that was flat so I just had water. Saganaki was good. I ordered a gyro and my husband a Greek salad. After ordering I wondered where is the spit for the gyro meat? The gyro was made with frozen paper thin fake gyro meat you can buy at the grocery store. It was covered in grease and the "lemon" potatoes were sliced potatoes also soaked in grease. I ate about half of my meal and left feeling sick. Spent

The high quality food definitely belies the fact that the Auburn is located in a rough-looking section of Ecorse. The facility itself is fairly nice on the inside -- not dumpy at all. The food is as good if not better than any of the more prominent and more expensive Greek restaurants in the Detroit metro area.
The small Greek salad could easily feed two people, and the ingredients are fresh and crisp. The dressing is house-made and fantastic. It is available for purchase. The stuffed grape leaves are the best I have ever been served in a restaurant, Evidently, they have been prepared by

I've lived downriver for a long time and I'm vexed I never came to Auburn Cafe in the past. I am glad that we went today for the first time.
Although it's a Greek spot it seems most stop in for the porterhouse steak. We also had a side of the deep fried potatoes sprinkled with lemon juice.
The porterhouse was cooked to perfection and the char flavor was absolutely perfect. I am very straightforward when it comes to steak because in all honesty there aren't too many consistent places to eat around here. Consistency ladies and gentlemen. lol My girlfriends mom has been to
