Our purpose is to give boys an adventurous, happy, and safe summer experience in an atmosphere that increases self-confidence, broadens knowledge, and strengthens character. To this end, Pine Island Camp keeps its enrollment small, its program varied and imaginative, and its life simple, unplugged, and close to nature.

In this age of cell phones and computers, a summer at Pine Island offers boys the opportunity to grow in physical skills, imagination, and self-confidence, away from the screens and clamor that dominate our world.
Services
Distinguished by its program, small enrollment, and unique freshwater island location, Pine Island Camp has offered fun, traditional camp activities since 1902 in a rustic setting that develops a boy's independence, imagination and character. Today, with hundreds of summer programs available, a summer at Pine Island remains very much as it was a century ago and intentionally different from most camp experiences.
At Pine Island Camp our first consideration is the safety of our campers and staff. We have an excellent safety record spanning more than 110 summers. At least one counselor with the rigorous Wilderness First Responder certification staffs every camping trip, and all trip leaders are certified by the State of Maine and receive additional training at Pine Island during the week before camp opens.
Your letters to each parent about our child are inevitably thorough, caring, and on point. You have a way of addressing even issues that were an 'issue' in such a way that a parent feels cared for and heard. This phone rings in our office on the Mainland. It is staffed every day during the morning hours, and messages are checked and calls returned frequently throughout the rest of the day.
Pine Island accepts 85 to 90 campers, ranging in age from nine to fifteen. Special effort is made to select boys from a variety of communities and schools. At least a third of our campers every summer are sons, brothers, nephews, or grandsons of alumni. Each fall director Sumner Ford schedules open house visits throughout the United States and Europe to meet with families who are interested in learning about Pine Island Camp.
From the south: Take I-95 or I-295 north to Augusta. Take the Belgrade exit (Exit 112B), and follow Routes 8, 11, and 27 north. Make a right turn off of 27 onto Routes 8 & 11 toward Oakland. Where 8 & 11 split (at the wooden "Welcome to North Belgrade" sign), the camp road is immediately to the left and plainly marked.
