-Gave me back several pieces of valuable family heirloom jewelry in worse shape than I brought them in and then said, “It was damaged when you brought it in” and “It’s the best we can do.”
-Very shoddy work. Examples:
- $800 gold hoop earrings now DENTED AND NOT ROUND!
- $12,000 antique engagement ring…asked for beads on the inside to be removed. Returned it with JAGGED EDGES and took so much of the band that WE had to pay for re-shanking to “make it right.”

Provide written estimates so there are no surprise $1700 bills. -Don’t give customers back their jewelry in worse shape than they brought it in and then say, “It was damaged when you brought it in” or “It’s the best we can do.” -Change your repair shop…they do shoddy work. -If the repair shop doesn’t do something right the first, second and third… time…don’t charge your customer for “making it right.” -Be respectful…never be sarcastic or rude to an upset customer. I have a G-shock watch that requires two batteries.
The Batteries were dead.
I called Van Der Veen jewelers and asked if it was something they could fix.
Van Der Veen explained that they would be happy to fix it, and so I took my watch to them for the repair.
Two days later they called to tell me it was ready for Pick-up. I drove across the Narrows bridge, and picked-up the watch. It seemed to be running nicely as I hoped it would.
Within two days I started noticing moisture building up beneath the crystal.
I called Van Der Veen and asked why I was getting moisture beneath the crystal.

I called Van Der Veen jewelers and asked if it was something they could fix.
Van Der Veen explained that they would be happy to fix it, and so I took my watch to them for the repair.

Vanderveen Jewelers surpassed all expectations. After trying to work with 2 other local privately owned jewelers to design a ring for 6mths with out any outcome I approached Vanderveen Jewelers. From the time I walked in with a unique design and the reassurance that they understood my wants was a 4 week turn around. Vanderveens never tried to push their wants and never tried to redesign my ring into their ideas, they listened and were very supportive. Vanderveens confidence and reassurance to meet my needs was met 100%. When the ring arrived it was more beautiful then the renderings ever gave it

What a lovely jewelry store, right on Winslow Way (Bainbridge's main street)!
The store has a "new" feel, despite being about a year old. The jewelry pieces are beautiful, of real silver or gold, gem stones, diamonds, and high-end watches. The pieces, for the most part, are more traditionally styled (I didn't see any pieces that screamed "contemporary" to me), and most were more delicate, smaller scaled. Pretty.
The man and women who work here were super nice and very friendly. There was a dad and a little boy in the store today when we were there, and I was taken

I have to say that thankfully I have found the owners of van der Veen Jewelers to be extremely professional, courteous and oh so helpful in every way. Their new store's beauty can only be outdone by their professionalism and extraordinary knowledge about all types of gem stones. I wouldn't buy my jewelry from anywhere else, especially a chain store such as Tiffany & Co. but good luck with that!
