Centrally located in Avon, CO you can access a ton of great road and mountain bike rides right from our shop doors. We also have electric bikes for a nice leisurely ride 10.3 miles up stream to The Vail Village for lunch and shopping. High Gear Cyclery offers a diverse selection of bike rentals for all levels.

Great little bike shop. Super friendly and kind staff. We were visiting from out of state and rented a road bike for 24 hours. They recommended the Wolcott Divide path and the old Vail Pass. Wokcott Divide was great with some fantastic views but Old Vail pass had some snow still :( Biked back to Avon from there through Vail and experienced Frontage Rd and the super maintained trails. Bike was great and the helmet provided was awesome as well.

Stopped into my local bike shop as I was having a tire issue, Sean was super helpful and quick to thoroughly check on the tire for me. He was really pleasant in answering all of my questions, I left with some good tips and things to keep an eye out for my bike and he welcomed me back if I had any issues, which I'm sure I won't!

These guys hooked us up with one of the most enjoyable bike riding experiences of our life time! It was so easy! The bikes were very well maintained, reasonably priced, and super easy to ride. We stuck to the local trail between Avon and Edwards. The shop guys knew right where to send us and we loved it. Highly recommended.

These guys are great. I recently moved to the Vail valley and was looking for a bike repair shop in Avon. Previously, I'd had my bike "repaired" at a few places in Denver, but always had a persistent squeaking break issue as well as a dragging rear brake. The shops in Denver would always tell me it would cost a fortune to replace the brakes on my bike and that it wasn't a viable option. As such, they would "repair my brakes", "bleed the brakes", "align the rotors", "straighten the bent rotors", etc. the real answer, which I always thought

This small bike shop has gotten a few friends and I back on our bikes thanks to their supreme bicycle repair knowledge, customer service and "quick service" capabilities. Paul was very friendly and was able to custom cut a spoke for my bike on the spot, it worked perfect the first time. This was after he was able to diagnose a hydraulic brake I was having issues with (all while he laced another customer's custom wheel!)

Excellent customer service both times I've gone in. I went in recently to get a spare tube and Paul helped me find a tube size that would work, explained how to improve the stem longevity with more frequent tire pressure checks/airing, and noticed that my bike was missing a rear derailleur hanger. When he didn't have the part on hand he called up Venture Sports to see if they had the part. They did and I was able to get the part and made it to my group ride on time thanks to the great cooperation between the shops. I really appreciate High Gear's focus on customer service even if that means sending

Quality place with great service and excellent gear choices. We wouldn't go anywhere else in Avon area any more. Their bikes for rent are maintained and tuned like new, and it feels like you're talking to your most skilled friend when you ask for advice on anything from how to get to a great trail to what they think about the energy bar you're about to get. The Kitsbow brand cycling shirts are expensive but multi-purpose - I want to see my husband in them when we are just hanging out in the Avon/Vail area. I also loved their cool socks.

Just doesn't get any better than Paul at High Gear... Paul knows his stuff inside and out, and really knows how to steer you to the right bike, the right part, or whatever you're looking for. He is also a great mechanic! Took my mess of a MTB in for some minor service and the bike came back like new!

After visiting other local bike shops in the area I was stoked to find Paul at High Gear Cyclery. Unlike some of the other local shops in the area, High Gear Cyclery seems to be extremely knowledgeable and carries a decent selection of bikes and gear.
Paul has been a life saver when it comes to miscellaneous maintenance issues as well as getting my visiting friends and family on demo bike when they come to visit.
There are several options when it comes to local bike shops near Avon and High Gear Cyclery is by far my favorite.
