In 1955, Davis Optical first opened its doors. Ronald O. Davis, O.D., a graduate of the University of Washington and the Illinois College of Optometry, realized his dream of opening his own independent practice of optometry in the heart of the University District. He personally hand selected every frame, and examined the eyes of each and every patient.
Davis Optical provides full service vision care. Our independent optometrists provide skillful vision exams for corrective lenses (eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses & contact lenses) and conduct sophisticated eye health assessments including cataract detection, glaucoma detection, and a full range of common medical eye conditions.

This is my second trip to Davis Optical. Just like the first, I had a great experience and purchased two new frames that are both trendy and well made. Working with Cindy and Laura is always a pleasure. They are both knowledgeable, delightful and there is no pressure to buy! Might I add, Laura is great at finding that perfect pair that would look great on you! I’m sure I’ll be back next year! Thank you Davis Optical!!!

I had the best experience at Davis Optical today! Laura and Lily helped me pick out the perfect frame for my face! They gave me ample time to try out different frames with COVID social distancing measures in place, so I was able to try them on and look in the mirror with my mask off for a short period of time! The glasses I tried on were placed inside a bucket for sanitation before putting them up for display again. Staff are really really nice and very knowledgable about my ISHIP insurance! They explained really well how I could get the most out of my insurance, and the process went really well

These are kind, helpful, highly efficient professionals who care about our vision. On my very first visit, Dr. Tom brilliantly got my vision back to a functional state with a new prescription. The front of house folks helped me pick frames, did paperwork to get me reimbursed, and fitted me with two pair of glasses in just a few hours. I am not usually given to superlatives, but Davis Optical and Dr. Jerry Tom are amazing and there are not superlatives enough to describe them.

Amazing,Friendly and Professional. The eye exam was very productive and efficent.Doctor took the time to answer all my questions. The staff at David optical lab was unbelievable gave great advice stayed within my budget no forced upselling and made sure i was happy with my glasses. I love the fact you can get glasses same day.Very convenient for those who work for UW and students . Also love the fact i am supporting a small business compared to those big box stores..or and the glasses selection is great.

Refused to fulfill a prescription for reading glasses that was only a few months old, even though I became disabled and couldn't come in for another appointment. I had bought a $600 pair of regular glasses before the disability, which they refused to fix, even though it's a minor repair, advising us to go across town to Ballard for the minor repair. I am homebound and my wife is about to undergo extensive radiation treatment and they could have made things easy on us but refused to help with an insignificant problem no matter how little effort it would have taken. This is THE best Optical shop I have every encountered. They get a six star rating , if there was such a thing. I just picked up the third pair they have made and they have all been great.
I am a person with numerous serious eye diseases so my recommendation really counts! They have a huge selection and all of the frames are delicious.
Nicole and Cindy are super nice and Nicole has the best eye for finding frames that suit me.
I have a strong prescription and the high index is too expensive for me; yet they were perfectly willing to accommodate me and grind the lenses with polycarbonate plastic
