Services
After returning from World War II in 1945, Edward Fienman together with a partner opened two small grocery stores in Detroit. In 1953, Ed parted ways with his partner and opened a store on Vernor and Military. In 1967, he closed that store and built a small specialty market specializing in meat, later adding produce.
E & L Supermercado prides itself on having a fantastic meat department with one of the largest service meat counters anywhere. We have the quality and cuts you would expect at affordable prices. We make our own chorizo which is available in bulk, casing, or tray packs. Our daily made ground beef has a reputation that can't be beat.
E & L Supermercado has a long tradition of providing the highest quality and freshest produce available everyday at great low prices. Avocados, plantains, cactus leaves, fresh Hispanic herbs, and a variety of peppers and chilies. Additionally, we bring in seasonal produce from our local Michigan farmers.
E & L Supermercado has a full line of Hispanic products along with a large variety of American canned goods. We are your one stop shop for fresh spices, dried chilies and beans. We carry full lines of Goya, San Marcos, Dona Maria, La Costena, and La Preferida products. Some of our specialty items include Kikuet empanadillas, Rio Grande beans, Ducal products, and a variety of Hispanic drinks.
E & L Supermercado has a wide assortment of authentic Mexican bakery products made fresh daily in house.

We use only the finest ingredients when preparing the following baked goods you can find here: empanadas, conchas (sweet bread), bolillos (french roll), orejas, tres leche cakes, chocoflan, decorated cakes, biscuits, marranitos, cocoles piloncillo, cuernos de canela, troncos de canela, panaderos, pancake, cacahuate, elotes de canela, magdalenas, muffins, besos, trensa de danes, and telera.

I love this place! The meat is always fresh and plentiful! The prices are reasonable for a family on a budget. My husband and I make a special trip to Southwest at least twice a month for best selections of meat they have. They also will cut your meat for you for free!

Unlike prince valley they're so rude on the phone and I try been nice 3 times already. I'm sticking with E&L supermarket. I love you guys.

This is a great supermarket which seems to have a little of everything. Great selection of meats. Interesting and hard to find items. And good desserts. Can't wait to go back when I have more time to check out each and every aisle.

This time, we ordered beef & chicken taco plates, beef & chicken super burritos. Everything was better than most restaurants, the burritos were huge and heavy, like 2.5 lbs each! The only downers were- the rice was too salty, and the frijoles were runny, like soup. Obviously watered down. Most of their groceries are more expensive than Meijers, but the sales items, spices, and meats are inexpensive. The raw beef fajita strips were super salty when we cooked them at home.

I love this supermarket, as it's a great place to find so many delicious items! I'm always sure to get the chicharrones by the deli...and the deli has so many meats, nice cuts, marinated, everything you could possibly want!! The prices are pretty reasonable and there's always lots of fresh produce to pick from and not picked over. If you have a sweet tooth, be sure not to miss the sweets corner which is pretty hard to miss since it's right by the entrance as you walk into the door greeted by sweet breads and cakes. My friend is Puerto Rican and always LOVES trips here and says

A supermarket in the truest sense, it feels like a supermarket you've been to before except brimming with every Mexican offering you can imagine. The aisles are well stocked and the store is clean and organized. The produce seemed fresh and very affordable. I was surprised by the produce items they were selling (some I'd never seen sold in stores) so this is certainly the place to get your hard to find ingredients. They also sell home wares. I stocked up on every mexican candy I could ever desire (tamarind city) and some chamoy to make mangonada at home. You can tell that people use this

By far, the best supermercado in Southwest Detroit. I love Honey Bee, but it's the "fancy" gentrified Mexican market. E & L has everything they have and more at a lower price. One of my favorite places to shop in Mexicantown. Lived in the area for 3 years and I was there once a week. I recommend getting some carnitas or chicharrones from the hot end of the deli. Fantastic stuff.

Great place for fresh meats and produce! Also fresh bolillos. The prices are awesome (today they had really nice limes, 30 for $3) and the quality of the fruits and vegetables is better than many markets around. Their rewards program is really good, too - you earn points that you can redeem for lots of things, including kitchen tools or pots/pans.

Wow wow wow! The meats keep moving and such a low price. Basically half the price of what you'll get at your normal super market. They get super busy fast! it's a holy glory market. This place keeps moving!

You got a butchers
You got fresh meals
You got produce
Etc.

Amazing market. We definitely stocked up on meats to freeze since we are not really around this area.

E&L is the type of market that you find in Mexico when grocery shopping. Its big well stocked and has a huge staff of people running around taking care of every detail.

Their produce section is a bit pricey but you can find things that you will need for essential Hispanic cooking. Don't forget to check out the cheese counter and also the meat counter which is the star of their show.

I like this store because you earn points when you shop here. And FYI Mira, they also carry religious candles and florida water at good prices. In case you are doing a sacrifice for Santeria you can get

This place is bodacious on a serious tip.. Love it.

I love supermercados my first time in Cali, I stopped at Cardenas in the desert and was like what what? Why don't we have these types of places back home?
So as soon as I got home started researching found this place as well as honeybees and a few other smaller places in the burbs.

E&L was love at first visit. Not as cool as the Cali type of supermercados but I'll take it. The meat selection
is great and they have a taqueria which is pretty sweet too. Offering tacos, rice, beans tamales etc.. There is good produce as well

Every time I hunt down authentic hard to come by ingredients for filipino dishes, I come here.

Their staff is very helpful and always delighted to serve. I buy all my nasty bits here,, from tripe, chitterlings, to pig ears,, they have it all in stock. It's not hard to find them either because their staff knows every nook and cranny of this store. I heard they have a taqueria station as well. It's not just the nasty bits they sell, their normal meats (as americans would call it) are also very good and priced very well. They even have ready made and marinated meats to take home for the
