Mrs. Eleanor Quiggle and two assistants supervised the immediately popular program. Meetings were bi-monthly and the 25 cents dues charged provided juice for the preschoolers. The Mothers' Club continued to supply juice and handle special holiday celebrations, as well as holding numerous successful fundraising projects to supply equipment to the new playschool.

Albany Preschool is extremely proud of our outstanding and dedicated teaching staff and administration, some of whom were once themselves parents of Albany Preschool students. Our staff meet all state requirements for their positions and every member has many years of experience working with children.
Albany Preschool is a play-based, parent cooperative preschool, founded in 1937. Twenty-four children from 3 years to 5 years of age share a large classroom with spacious yards, along with tons of supplies for art and other activities. This position reports to the Executive Director and works with a supportive teaching team.
Half-day schedule - 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, for 3 or 5 mornings a week - priority is for 3 year-olds. 1. Request to take a tour. You are welcome to bring your child(ren), as it is a great way to see how your child responds to the environment. Contact info@albanypreschool.org with any questions. A tour is required for enrollment, which can be taken after you have submitted an application.
Our sensory systems, (the vestibular, proprioceptive, auditory and visual senses) work together to take in information and shape the brain's network. The more the input is repeated, the strong the connection is made. Our circle swing in the South Yard is the perfect vehicle for this stimulus. Spinning in circles is one of the best activities to help children gain a good sense of body awareness.
It's the time of year when, everywhere we look, green things are growing. Depending on our inclinations, gardening with kids can be either a win-win or a no-go situation. For some, digging in dirt is a way of life; for others, it's an intimidating hassle. Most small children take naturally to gardening; they love being outdoors, helping with garden tasks, and having an excuse to dig in the dirt and splash water.

Our son (4) has been attending for over a month now and he really loves it! There is a lot to do and play with so the kids never get bored. As parents we really liked that when we were looking for a preschool, the children here at Albany Preschool were very comfortable and having fun while not out of control. Other preschools we visited, we noticed that the kids were just going crazy, or bored, and at a couple of them scared of the teachers. I think the great atmosphere is created by the teachers Nancy, Suzy, & Nagat. They do a great job with the kids in all aspects. We have a daughter that

Albany Preschool has some of the best pre-school teachers out there. My daughter is currently in her second year and she has developed and learned so much. She started the school not speaking any English as we are a Spanish-speaking household. Not only is she now fluent in English but she is also able to sing songs in several different languages as well. The school is fully play-based so the kids are allowed and encouraged to play, explore, paint, dance and express themselves. The school incorporates science, math and reading throughout the day while playing and exploring. Teachers and families

My son has been attending Albany Preschool since the fall. He goes three days a week and he loves it! He started sobbing once when I told him he would be going to the library for storytime with his grandparents on one of his off days instead going to school. We'll be enrolling him five days a week next year. Heck, even my one year old looks forward to taking his big brother to school since he gets to poke around a bit and listen to some songs during the drop-off/pick-up circle time.
The kids get to pick what they want to do for the day. It's fun to see what the minds of 3 and 4 year

We love this school and most of all, we love the teachers! We are really happy with the variety of activities available. There is so much to do here. There is art, crafts, games, singing, dancing, learning new languages. They have two yards; the north yard with a standard play structure and the south yard with a huge sand box, swings, fountains, and play house. The kids have snacks every morning (no sweets, of course) and the kids help out with gathering everyone when it's time.
We were a little apprehensive of the co-op system at first and the level of involvement. Honestly, it became more

My daughter will be graduating from preschool at Albany Preschool in June after going through their two year afternoon program. The teachers at the school are warm, compassionate and positive. They have helped my daughter grow and become more independent.
I love the play-based philosophy, and my daughter has learned so much! The coop model enables us to get to know other families in the area better than we otherwise would. The diverse community of the school is celebrated every day as the children learn to sing songs in the languages represented by the students and their families.

Both of my older children thrived and loved APS. The teachers are awesome and truly love playing with preschoolers, many of them were APS parents originally, some used to attend APS themselves. Kids are left to be kids at APS, they learn through observation and doing things, but no one makes them learn a letter or a number or any thing if they don't want to, which was important to me. Lots of open ended toys and materials for the kids to experiment with.

Both of my children attended APS for one year each and we love this preschool! There was a 5 year gap in between my kids attending here and when we came back with our 2nd child, the teacher's there were still the same vibrant, loving and fun teachers as they were before we moved. Albany Preschool's strengths are that they are loving (everyone is called "friend", teachers are affectionate), lots of singing, games, "public speaking" opportunities (or not!), comfort zones are respected, there is a focus on learning about different cultures, languages (and identifying

We love this preschool! My son is in his second year here, in the PM program (1-4:30) and absolutely LOVES it! I can't believe how much he's developed in one short year. They really are a play based school and the benefits of that are quickly rewarded with a confident young 3-4 year old that can sing the morning song in 6-10 languages, has an affinity for the flags of the world, can write his name before the age of 4, enjoys music, dancing, playing with friends, cleans up after himself, and the amount of art that comes home is mind blowing!

We love Albany Preschool. My son attends both the morning and afternoon program and he has a great time. We were worried that it would be too long of a day for him but so far, he's as happy as a clam, talking about what fun he had and all the activities he did. I only wish we sent our older son here but at least our younger son has had this great preschool experience. The teachers are great and the cooperative atmosphere is a great community.

My 4 year old son just finished his first year at Albany Preschool and he has loved it. He loves the variety of activities going on every day and likes to move from activity to activity at his own pace. There are a lot of play areas and there's something new to do every day. The school is play-based, so he's learning while he plays. He's writing his name, saying the alphabet, counting in English and Spanish and learning new stories and songs every day. He spends a lot of time in the play areas outside (a giant sandbox and playhouse and playstructure) and also enjoys the pretend

We also love Albany Preschool! My older son went to the afternoon program last year- he's now in kindergarten and doing great! I really appreciated how much the teachers cared for him and worked with him to make sure he was ready for school- all while maintaining a fun, creative, play-based curriculum!
This year my 3 year old twins have started the morning program and are having a great time. They grow and learn more every week, and I really enjoy getting a chance to participate in their school experience and meeting all the other kids. I'm also learning some new tricks from the amazing

My twin daughters are in their 2nd year at this great preschool. They love it, we love it. It is a very nurturing environment, where kids feel safe and secure to explore, express themselves and learn. The facilities are fantastic - there is a large open school as well as 2 big play yards. One yard has a huge sand area, slide, swings, playhouse water tables when the weather is right and tables for outdoor games, and the other yard has a play structure, trikes, balance bikes and other fun stuff.

APS Rocks!
Our son is in his first year of the program. Our experience here has brought me a sense of community I haven't experienced since leaving a much smaller city. Most of the staff have been there for many years and are highly competent. This play-based program is of the highest caliber and has offered us everything we were looking for in a pre-school.

We love Albany Preschool! My son is in his 2nd year there and we couldn't be happier. The curriculum is play based, the teachers are fabulous and it's a wonderful community. It can be a lot of work, but you either pay for preschool with money or time. With a co-op preschool it's mostly time, and it's fun because you get to meet all the kids and all the parents. I think I'm going to go through APS withdrawal when my son starts kindergarten.

Why, you might ask yourself, is a 65 year old woman writing a review about her preschool? Doesn't she have a life?
I graduated from the Albany Preschool in about 1950 as did many of my young Albany neighbors. Can't think of one of us who hasn't used those early years as a foundation for a colorful *educated* lifetime.
Miss Curran was our teacher. We learned to share, to pour milk from a pitcher, to make clay vases for Mother's Day. And (of course) to give the obligatory plaster of paris handprint to our father on his "special" day.
Although we came from a wide variety
