Services
In the fall of 1927, a fifteen-year-old girl journeyed with her parents from the mountain village of Cesuna in Northern Italy to America. Lena Traverso knew no English, but her cooking sure could talk, as she had spent countless hours being raised in the kitchen of their small family hotel. The family settled on the South Side of Chicago and Lena eventually used her talents working in a number of local restaurants.
Unlike any we've tried. Mama T's light and fluffy version has been voted #1 in Chicagoland by the renowned Chicago Magazine. Our sinfully delicious version of chocolate brownie cake, with a cream cheese-chocolate chip top layer. Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzled with chocolate sauce and finished with whipped cream.
Our extensive catering menu includes many of the same tasty options you'll find on our dinner menu, but packed up in larger quantities and ready to travel. Traverso's party room accommodates up to 60 guests for evening parties (or up 200 in the afternoon) and is available for wedding rehearsals, team parties, showers, Christenings, or any other group functions.

Nice comfortable atmosphere in dining room. Bar separated with tables to also enjoy dining. Owner checked in twice to see how everything was. Also, one of the biggest gluten free menus I’ve seen. Wait staff very knowledgeable with gluten sensitivities. Great job Traverso’s!! We will certainly be back.

The mama's special meat ravioli...amazing!! You can select the sauce you want with your pasta and I chose the tomato cream. It was the best decision I made. I was craving good pasta when I found this restaurant and it definitely fulfilled my craving! The restaurant had a welcoming home feel which we loved. Topped off my meal with a yummy chocolate martini.

We've been having family get togethers here since 1993. The all you can eat pizza parties are fantastic!! You can't beat the price. Paul and Mike are always a pleasure to work with. The staff is very attentive. The warm bread served with dinner is delicious. Their gnocchi is also one of my favorites.

This is a restaurant that accommodates all including those looking for gluten free meals which is why I visited. The food was delicious slightly pricey, atmosphere was nice and laid back. The place was packed 30 mins after opening so expect to wait to be seated or slightly rushed to finish up. Overall I will return.

A quick review for one of the best Italian restaurants we've ever been to. We've been a customer for nearly 25 years and they never disappoint. Their home-made pasta dishes are superb. The one picture I have is of my favorite - the lasagne - that is always twice as large as you could eat in the restaurant, which is great as I always have leftovers to take home. Order extra sauce both for in the restaurant and for home.

Had THE BEST experience last night! It was a Friday night and of course, busy. But you would have never known with how kind and attentive our server was. Along with that, my celiac foodie loving self was in HEAVENNNN! Their celiac safe menu didn’t disappoint and made me feel like a normal eater again for a moment.
The owner stopped by to say hi and with a mouthful of food I couldn’t express my gratitude for his care and love for the celiac community the way I wanted to- so hope he sees this! Will definitely be dining there again soon.

Great ambiance and super friendly staff. We had a big party of 8 people and were well taken care of. The calamari and bruschetta we ordered for appetizers were both good. The pasta was super fresh tasting and the portion sizes are very large. My wife had the gnocchi which melted in you mouth. The one thing I found that was a little lack luster was the marsala sauce on my entree it was bland and pasty like a roux. All in all the food is good the atmosphere is good i would stop in again for sure
