The Colonial House Inn & Motel
Many people have asked how The Colonial House began and how it came into the hands of our family. Here are some of the historical tidbits about the Inn and its Innkeepers. Since Vermont was established as a State in 1791, only three families have owned the land on which the Inn was built. The original Cape Cod house was built between 1790 and 1810.

It was the home of the Richardson's and was a farm that they owned until the middle 1960's. In 1967, the house and 12 acres of land were purchased by Jean and Chuck Savage. In 1968, they added the Inn rooms and renovated the room that is now the Guest Living Room. Motel rooms 1 through 7, formerly part of the Palmer House in Manchester, VT, were cut into two sections and hauled over the mountains to Weston in 1969.
Services
IMPORTANT: Breakfast is still served daily, but the tables have been moved apart and seating is with your own traveling party only. We have limitations on the number of people who can be in the dinning room at a time, so check with us to see if we are staggering the seating times for breakfast. We appreciate your patience with all the new rules!
Please stay on the main roads when traveling to Weston as dirt roads are frequently not well maintained or plowed in the winter. Take the Taconic State Parkway to NY 295E, last exit before tolls. Proceed about 10 miles to NY 22N at stop light. Turn left and drive about 25-30 miles to NY 7E and turn right to Bennington, Vt.
The motel rooms at the Colonial House are in attached wings off the main building. Each room has private bath, cable TV, free WI-FI and outside entrance. There are two comfortable chairs in each room, a writing desk and dresser and sufficient space for a roll-away if there is an extra person in the party.
Full breakfast included in rates and served daily from 8:01 am to 9:33 am in our dining room. Dinner may be served Friday and Saturday nights when we have 15 or more guest dinner reservations. The Colonial House is ideally suited for groups of 28 - 30 people with the guest room as a place to gather along with the dining room for meals enjoyed in the fellowship of friends and family.
The Inn Rooms at the Colonial House are upstairs in the farmhouse section above the guest living room. Two rooms in the original Cape Cod farmhouse, Inn rooms 1 & 2 with two single beds in each, were renovated in 2010 to become one room, Inn 1. Located at the end of the hall in a section that dates back to 1790 - 1810, Inn 1 is a lovely oasis with a wide pine plank floors, a queen bed, rocker and love seat.

Kim and Jeff were great hosts on our last light on the Inn to Inn walking tour. They were very friendly and extremely accommodating. Kim even coordinated an appointment for me at a nearby quilt shop when she learned from another Inn keeper that I was a quilter. Further, she welcomed me into her quilting room and gave me some tips and a quilters gift packet. Jeff surprised us completely with fresh trout for dinner that was fabulous. The endless supply of homemade cookies; especially the spicy molasses; was also a plus!

Adore it here. Kim and Jeff are too good for this world. They are phenomenal hosts. The atmosphere is entirely too perfect for a serene getaway. The rooms have what one needs to feel at home and also away from home. Breakfast is yummy and different. And I love being able to see the mountains during daylight and the stars at night.

Our room was very comfortable and clean and quiet. A/C worked very well, nice bedding and shower and decent TV with plenty of options to watch. Probably the best thing about our stay was the food. We had an excellent dinner and breakfast. The people here are extremely nice and the stay was very enjoyable. I'm not in Weston so much but next time I would definitely stay here without considering looking anywhere else. The food and people are just too wonderful not to return!!

The room was great and the meals are great but the rest of the place looks very disorganized. The innkeepers are wonderful and obviously very concerned that you have a good stay.

Tks somewhat tired B&B that looks a bit worn but hosted by two great innkeepers, wonderful kitchen/dining room staff. Suggestions: offer cheese, grapes, crackers for a healthier afternoon snack (cookies are currently offered daily). Declutter common area and delineate items for guest purchase to increase inn revenue. Repair wooden doors in the annex area where wood has chipped away. Repaint same. Keep door to downstairs storage area (across from the ice machine) closed. This is an "off-stage" area and appearance down hall would be better for guests to not see storage area when using common hallway

If you truly want to experience Vermont life The Colonial House Inn is where to go . You will have gone to Grandmas house with Duke the dog, the ragdoll kitty, and the older cat, who also stay in the Colonial House with you. Breakfast is included everyday . Jeff , your host, is a great chef using whole grains and fresh fruits and the greatest omelets I've ever had. Really .The house always smells of food naturally giving that cozy feel. Jeff's brother in law owns Grandma Millers in Londonderry and you get a fresh bread of some sort every morning from his bakery. Yum. You will feel

I like the simplicity of being invited into someone's home. That is The Colonial Inn. The difference is in the phenomenal people you meet, and the WONDERFUL (free)breakfasts!! If I can't stay at the base of the mountain (skier) for a reasonable price (which is almost always the case) the Colonial Inn is my go to place. The owners are SUPER wonderful Vermonters
I keep going back... (See you Friday, Kim and Jeff). Oh, the Popcorn and the cookies... Check them out too.

This place was absolutely phenomenal. I felt like we were in the owner's home and that they personally were taking care of us. It didn't only 'feel' like it, it was actually the case! We were caught in snow and ice and called to make a last minute booking. Jeff the 'chef' welcomed us personally introducing us to his home, where the guests can hang out on comfortable sofas by the fire; coffee and homemade cookies all afternoon/evening - all included in the price of course. Then, Jeff showed us to our cute little room. The room was cozy and right out of a little alpine chalet/motel. In the morning

We stayed here for a night to hit up Stratton and Okemo and the inn keepers are extremely welcoming and nice. The common room is like coming home - it's so nice that they always have coffee/tea available and the fires going. The inn pets are extremely cute, too. The breakfast in the morning is amazing - I'd go back just for this! Overall, the service and food are amazing but like a reviewer had stated, the walls are really thin so you can hear your neighbors. I think that's the only down-side. I wish we had more time to enjoy this place. We will definitely go back!

Stopped today for a grandma millers apple pie. I was surprised by how unfriendly the inn keeper was. I have been there several times and normally it is a nice place

We stayed here last month for a long weekend trip to Weston Priory and Hildene. We fully expected the rooms to be modest and the Inn to be family-friendly. It was both. What we did not expect was how fantastic the breakfasts (and cookie!) would be, how lovely the hosts would be and how much our kids would love the place. This is a lovely way to visit Weston with kids and affordably. Relatives staying at a pricier B&B nearby were jealous of our breakfast, cozy living room and views. Can't wait to go back!

Centrally located for an Okemo, Stratton, Magic or Bromley ski trip, The Colonial Inn offers welcoming staff and nice perks at the best prices in the area.

They have a main Inn with a warm and welcoming communal living room that everyone was actually using. They have a nice communal dining room for the included breakfast that encourages meeting and mingling with your fellow guests. The Breakfast specials are quite tasty and hearty and are altered to your personal taste without hesitation. They offer afternoon tea and cookies to welcome you back from your area adventures and evening popcorn.

Friendly innkeepers, delicious breakfasts, high-speed internet access, and billions of stars in the sky are highlights from my stay at this motel midweek in February 2009. I believe they have the best area midweek price for Okemo Ski & Stay. Okemo is about 20 minutes by car.

The rooms are equipped with essentials. You are not paying for extravagant amenities here. Knotty pine-paneled rooms, dresser, chairs, individual digital thermostats, private bathrooms (some rooms have shared bathrooms), stall showers, Cable TV, NO ROOM PHONE (a great thing), decent cell phone coverage if you absolutely
