Rancho Santa Fe CA
The earliest mentions of fire protection for the area are found in journals kept by local residents. One such resident was concerned that "the nearest fire station was located in Escondido, twelve miles to the east over a bad road." An entry made in 1922 spoke of a station open only seasonally by the California Division of Forestry (CDF).

In the late 1930s, CDF also opened a station at the fairgrounds in Del Mar. While World War II was capturing attention and headlines worldwide in 1943, a local event occurred in November of that year that had quite an impact on our community.
Services
On behalf of the men and women of the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District, I welcome you to our website. All of our members are committed to providing the highest level of service delivered with pride, professionalism, and excellence! What an honor it is to be selected as the District's new Fire Chief.
To schedule an appointment with a Fire Prevention Specialist to discuss concerns regarding potential hazards on your property, or to report a potential hazard on another property, email the Fire Prevention Bureau here. Please be sure to include your name, telephone number, your concern or inquiry, and whether you would like a property inspection.
The Board of Directors has the responsibility to establish policies and guidelines for the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District that may exceed County ordinances. The Board meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. Meetings are held in the Board Community Room located at 18027 Calle Ambiente (Administrative Offices).
Our Administrative Office, which was once housed at Station 1, is located in Cielo Plaza at the entrance to the community of Cielo, across Calle Ambiente from Station 4. The new location is more centrally located to all areas of the district and will allow us to better meet the needs of our customers.
Our agency has been at the heart of the Rancho Santa Fe community from its early days. Long ago, absent a local "city" government, the Fire District was called upon to perform a wide variety of tasks and served as a central hub of information. Today, we strive to continue providing that connection throughout our community.

Years ago the fire department saved my house. Tonight they helped me turn off the water going up into the air about 15 feet when we were unable to turn it off and fixed everything for us.
