An Ocean City Destination since 1977, The Hobbit Resaurant's original location was a cozy white beach house on 82nd Street and Coastal Highway. The ninety seat restaurant, with lace tablecloths, separate dining rooms and a relaxed lounge and bar quickly became a favorite of locals and Ocean City visitors alike.
Ketel One Peach Botanical Vodka, fresh mint, Limoncino liqueur, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. Great for the warm summer evenings. An OC twist on the Moscow Mule, Ciroc Red Berry vodka, Barritts ginger beer, and lime juice. You can't order just one. Bacardi Coconut rum, white rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, splash of grenadine, finished with a Bacardi 4yr Anejo rum floater.
Our bar offers the same great views and a special menu filled with some unique lighter fare. Crispy fried boneless chicken thigh pieces tossed in a sweet sesame chili sauce, sriracha slaw, house made ginger pickles. One of our all fresh jumbo lump crabcakes on a freshly baked brioche bun from Crack of Dawn Bakery (Berlin, MD).
Yes, we accept reservations via online (click the reservation tab above) or by phone and they are strongly recommended. The owner put the names of a few books in a hat which he had read while in high school and college then pulled out "The Hobbit". Yes, it is still a family run business under the same ownership since its opening in 1977.
We have been going to the Hobbit each summer for about 10 years. I think it is the best restaurant in Ocean City, MD. View is great, atmosphere and interior design is relaxing and elegant, service is right on, and cuisine is excellent. I particularly enjoy the Veal Pistachio. No matter where you sit, you pretty much get a view of the serene waters outside (obviously, bonus points if you book your res for sunset).

I absolutely enjoyed my experience at the hobbit restaurant. It started by being greeted at the door and having the door held open. Every staff member was friendly helpful and greeted me. So service was the best I’ve ever had in any restaurant. The food was outstanding. I had the eggplant and my fiancé had the duck. They were prepared perfectly and the flavor profile was exquisite. The atmosphere was welcoming and enjoyable and the view of the bay is unbeatable. I would highly recommend visiting this outstanding restaurant.

One of the best dinning experiences we have ever come across in Ocean City Maryland and quite possible the best restaurant we have ever been to!
From start to finish, from the views to the friendly staff, the entire night was a heavenly dream. The shrimp toast appetizer was perfectly fried with the crust just barely breaking and crumbling into juicy bits of pieces of joy. The duck confit roll was sweet yet crunchy.

From the moment we approached the Hobbiton styled front entrance, the door was immediately opened for us, greeted by a friendly staff who seemed extremely welcoming. We were informed our table was still being setup, and sat down within 5 minutes. Unfortunately we did not get

A-MA-ZING! The dining room was beautiful with an exquisite view of the sunset (see pic). The tables were very spaced from one another and service was impeccable. And the food.... wow! Complex, yet delicate flavor profiles, excellent selection. Timing and temperature were perfect. Would definitely return!

As part of our 45th Anniversary weekend, We visited the Hobbit Restaurant last night and were a bit nervous. Excellent reviews but many saying pricy and sercvice not consistent. Well no reason to be worried. From entrance (doors opened for us) to exit (doors opened again), we had a wonderful experience.
Located on 81st Street at the bottom of a condo, lots of reserved parking and on the Bay view with spectaculay views, we were immediately shown to our table which had a Happy Anniversary sign.

Great dining experience. The online reservation system worked to perfection. Highly recommend making a reservation. The menu is fantastic and can't wait to try more. I tried the perogies, and despite not being a sauerkraut fan, absolutely loved the dish. The presentation and portions were great too. They still had some nice covid measures in place like plastic dividers between many of the booths. I appreciated that as well.

I had scallops and duck cigar (like egg rolls) appetizers, and duck breast for dinner. Of course, a few drinks, too. All cooked perfectly. Our waiter helped my party pick a no-dairy choices, which was the Macadamia crusted salmon w curry sauce.
Not my first visit, and looking forward to many more.

This restaurant is fantastic! My brother asked me what to get my wife for her birthday so I figured a gift card for us to use while on vacation in OC, MD would be a good idea. I googled restaurants that were near our hotel and The Hobbit came up so I sent it to him and he ordered a gift card through their website. It arrives via a text message, so make sure you have a smart phone (I know just about everyone does, but hey, you never know).
Fast forward two months and we are in Ocean City for our vacation. We saved this dinner for our last night in town and wow was it amazing! The food was excellent

For the best of the best in fine dining in Ocean City MD hands down the experience was unbelievable 5 star all the way around. I sat at the bar with regular repeat customers that love coming there at least twice a week. The food was incredible and the service was very good. I'm already looking forward to go back for dinner again.

I am a frequent diner at The Hobbit and it is hands down the best restaurant in Ocean City (and could go head to head with an amazing restaurant anywhere else)! The floor to ceiling windows offer unparalleled sunset views and the food and drinks are ALWAYS delicious. My favorite menu classics are the blackened filet with Boursin, the lollipop lamb chops, the cream of crab soup and the Mary’s delight (a dessert). There are rotating specials and you truly can’t go wrong with anything you choose. This is the perfect date night or special occasion spot but it’s also a great place to relax and
