Services
My goal as an Orthopedic Surgeon is to relieve musculoskeletal pain and improve function to allow my patients to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle. This involves treating recent injuries and fractures, diagnosing and treating chronic problems, and revising problems created by other surgeries. We use a team approach with physician assistants, nurses, orthotists, and physical therapists to meet these goals.
Dr. Kim enjoys bringing innovative treatment options to his patients and transforming lives through his continued work with the Health Volunteers Overseas Organization (HVO). Although I treat many patients with similar orthopedic injuries, I believe that the best outcomes for patients result from individualized treatment plans.
We are experts at treating ankle and foot arthritis using treatments including total ankle replacement of fusion. We will also treat your painful or failed ankle replacements. Similar to hip and knee replacement, total ankle replacement (TAR, total ankle arthroplasty) is an effective treatment for a painful, arthritic joint.
The pain and stiffness you feel in your feet and ankles as you grow older could be arthritis. If left untreated, this nagging pain can grow worse, eventually becoming so painful that you can no longer walk short or long distances. Severe arthritis can restrict your movement in your foot and ankle and limit your quality of life, but with proper treatment, you can slow the development of arthritis and lead a more productive life.
Many painful conditions of the ankle and hindfoot are related to injury to the joint's cartilage. Cartilage is the smooth white surface the caps the ends of bones and allows joints to glide smoothly during activity. When the cartilage is injured, cysts may form, joints may grind, catch, swell, and are frequently painful.
