Florida Buddhist Vihara is a major Theravada Buddhist place of worship located in a pleasant setting in suburban Tampa. It was established back in 1997 by Rev. Kokkavita Wipulasara in order to satisfy the religious needs of Sri Lankan devotees in the state of Florida.
Starting from its modest beginning, today it has grown gradually to become a leading place of worship for not only Florida's Sri Lankans and other Buddhists but also those of other neighboring states as well.An important additional motivation for the establishment of the Vihara was to instill Buddhist heritage in your beloved children, which also is being achieved successfully.

A nation's destiny depends on its progeny. Therefore, it is important to train children to grow up to be morally sound and righteous citizens; patriotic and proud of their heritage. For the Sri Lankan parents living abroad, it is a daunting task and a challenge, to bring up their off spring according to the Dhamma and Sri Lankan traditions and values.
