Our purpose is to nurture an environment that honors human dignity, where both children and parents recognize and act from the innate goodness within them. Our vision is a society where people recognize the innate goodness and value of each human being and act in a way that honors themselves and others, beginning in their own family.
Cottonwood Preschool is a non-profit corporation, founded in 1981 by a group of dedicated parents who identified a need for a pre-school program that was different than others in the Littleton area. These parents imagined a preschool where their cooperative efforts could create a stimulating and exciting learning environment for their children.

Services
Cottonwood embraces a developmental, play based philosophy of learning. We respect each child as a unique individual and believe that young children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. Play is the child's natural process for learning and development. Within play's natural learning environment children develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
Cottonwood Preschool recognizes the parent as the child's first and most important teacher. We support this role by providing opportunities for parents to participate in the education of their children. Parent participation preschools are unique. When parents and teachers work together, the link between home and school is strengthened.

I found Cottonwood Preschool while doing some marketing for my therapy practice Peak Pediatric Rehabilitation. Being a therapist I tend to be more structured and look at child development from a medical lense. I knew this was the environment I wanted my son to be in for preschool. It is truly the best play based preschool in our area. the kids do… not have circle time or learn their letters and numbers in an organized fashion like other schools. They PLAY. They use their imaginations. Their sense of creativity is developed. Their independence and unique desires for exploration of activities

Cottonwood Preschool is a gift to the community and every child and parent who take part. I have learned so much about my child, myself, and this precious time of life with a preschooler in the half year we have attended. The environment allows children to thrive in a play-based atmosphere. Personally, I have seen the incredible freedom that art… brings to my daughter through any and all mixtures of mediums. It is pure joy! Very grateful to have come across this gem! We drive from Denver and I am so grateful to have found Cottonwood through word of mouth from another grateful parent.

We attended Cottonwood for 2 years, and only wish we could do a few more! The children thrive in a child centered environment where they can paint, dig, explore, pour, build, create, play and make. The teachers are the best! Each new week creating new spaces, and challenges to explore, gently guiding and supporting the children through growing… and nuturing socio-emotional relationships all the while empowering them.
Reading, writing and learning comes easier when the child has developed and fostered the heart of a learner, the curiosity of an explorer and they have developed the appropriate

We have been parents at Cottonwood for 2 years now, and love this community! It's a place where children can be children, and the teachers do an amazing job with children's socio-emotional needs. The teachers also go above and beyond to support parents. It may take some families a little while to understand the beauty of what's happening here since the mornings do not appear to have the "structure" of other preschools. It's true play-based learning at it's best!

This is my daughter’s second year at Cottonwood and we LOVE it. The play based philosophy allows the kids to thrive and learn at their own pace and in their own way. The teachers are incredible with the children, it’s a special thing to witness this level of caring and attention. We really enjoy the parent participation aspect because you get to know the other families and have the opportunity to help in the classroom a couple times per month. This school is truly a gem.

Cottonwood Preschool is a treasure. All of the children are loved equally and treated uniquely. My son got rowdy, and out came the wrestling mats.
The school is located in the lower level of a church but is not affiliated with the Presbyterian church. They only lease the lower level and AWESOME playground. With a magical garden and huge sandbox, outdoor play is always an option. Mud kitchens, composting worms, buckets of glue, and lots and lots of love and listening. Teacher Gail and Teacher Lara are experts in their field. I learn something new each day.

I went here as a preschooler, and it's only getting better! The teachers are constantly learning the most cutting-edge research on children and education. Developmentally appropriate, play-based program that not only fostered my own creativity, but will continue to do so for a whole new batch of children.
