Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible. We all wish for world peace, but world peace will never be achieved unless we first establish peace within our own minds. Happiness and suffering are states of mind and so their main causes are not to be found outside the mind. If we use our human life to accomplish spiritual realizations, it become immensely meaningful.

I went on a weekend retreat to KMC DC and it was wonderful. It was worth the drive down from Philadelphia. The temple is beautiful and easy to access. It is a very open place with welcoming people. The teachings and meditations were uplifting and contemporary. I was able to take what was taught and apply it to my life. It is a good place to go to heal and grow.

My husband and I began attending the DC mediation ctr in January as a new year's resolution to cleanse our minds and souls. Gen Demo's teachings have and continue to offer us both a great deal of spiritual advice on how to live a more peaceful life through meditation practices. By offering our kindness and generosity towards others, we learn to be better people. Our Thursday and Friday nights are no longer spent drinking at a bar. As a couple we now look forward to our meditation sessions and life teachings presented to us by our lovely Buddhist teacher Gen Demo. We even discuss that evening's

I went to this temple for its Grand Opening weekend, which was quite impressive. The external appearance is modest but clean, with a little nice landscaping (and the ornaments on the roof, which are spectacular). The meditation hall is what really shines about the building, and the community is small but welcoming, and professional. If you're looking for a place to learn about some meditation of the Buddhist variety in the DC area, this is a great one in the SW quadrant of the city.

The Teacher, Gen Demo, gave practical teachings that opened my mind. I walked away with some profound teachings that I was able to take home and continue to use as a morning meditation. The guided meditations were very inspiring giving me the feeling of inner peace. Her teachings are light, to the point and mixed with humor.

Kadampa Meditation Center - DC offers a quiet oasis of peace from stress and conflict. Located in the vibrant SW, near to the National’s Ballpark, KMC-DC offers a wide variety of classes, retreats and chanted prayers. Gen Demo, the resident teacher, provides profound teachings with grace and humor that directly apply to modern life. I moved to the DC area in May and found KMC-DC very welcoming. Every time I attend a class or retreat, I learn methods that I can immediately apply to my life to help reduce stress and anxiety. I’m very happy to be a part of this community and hope that thousands

I love attending meditation classes at KMC DC! The teacher, Gen Demo, offers very practical examples that I feel are relatable and applicable to my every day life. The space is beautiful and peaceful, and everyone is friendly and welcoming. When I attend classes, I not only get guided meditations while I'm there but also learn methods to take with me that will change my life in ways to help me become happier and more peaceful.

Attending meditation classes at Kadampa has helped me immensely to get rid of negative emotions. After nine months of class, I'm much more at peace and much less likely to be guided by anger. It has helped me enjoy life more and build stronger relationships. And I started to benefit almost immediately. They follow a really balanced approach that lets you grow at your own pace. And they have classes in SW, NW and Alexandria. Hope to see you there!
