Our mission is to provide each camper with a multi-faceted camp experience in a safe and supportive environment that promotes emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development. While MTC is a general interest camp, with over 30 activities encompassing a broad range of interests, we are well known within the camping industry for a few of our programs that are widely recognized as among the best offerings within US Summer Camps.

Many of our staff are certified teachers and experienced educators who tutor in core languages, mathematics, English, creative writing, and the sciences. Campers are asked to bring current textbooks from their regular school.
Rise to a challenge! Start with the fundamentals of trust & group games, learn safety skills on our low ropes, before progressing to the challenge of climbing our "spider web" to the high ropes and jumping from our 50 foot zip-platform high in the tall pines!
Not just an adrenalin rush, our high ropes adventure course stresses individual accomplishment with the support of peers, stretching each campers comfort zone and the importance of safety at all times. Our 40-foot climbing wall will challenge experienced and beginner climbers alike. Develop climbing skills and strength with the help of experienced staff, and take those hard-won skills on a climbing trip out of camp.

The community service elective is offered daily. We go to animal shelters, senior homes, land trusts, state parks, Habitat for Humanity projects, food pantries & soup kitchens, perform community waterway, roadway & cemetery clean-ups, volunteer at major local events and more.
We believe that community service hours should be performed on a local level, proving to teens that they can make more of a difference in their own local town or city; with a long term goal of establishing a personal philosophy of service & giving campers the tools they need to plan and implement their own projects. That is - showing teens that community service does not have to mean traveling to another country or spending hundreds of dollars.

My daughter attended the same sleep away camp for years and had the best experiences there. This year, she was excited to try Maine teen camp for the first time. Communication was worse than horrible! The Director would never get back to me. I eventually had to reach out to the owner to get my one question answered and found her to be shockingly rude and uncaring. Basically, my daughter has a sleep condition that requires her to take medicine in the middle of the night. She does this on her own but during her previous years at sleep away camp, the nurses did it for her (bc they don't want the medicine

I sent my daughter to MTC in pretty bad shape in the summer of 2021. The year of covid was so hard on teenagers. The best thing I can say is that MTC helped give me my kiddo back. I knew from the second I laid eyes on her. She had the time of her life and endlessly texts her camp friends to this day. They are all going back next summer. Forever fans in Texas now.

We could not be more thrilled with our daughter's first year experience at this amazing camp (in a very beautiful part of Maine)! I am not exaggerating when I state that she was glowing upon pick-up and feeling all the feels when saying good-bye to some really special friendships. She's been talking daily about her camp experience. And, a very big highlight to mention is the "no cell phone" policy which allows the kids to connect, in person, with others and decompress from the constant online alerts and draw of being plugged in. Our daughter said it was enjoyable (and other kids agreed) to not

Unique. Professional. Excellent. Unforgettable.
As a camper from 2005-2009 and then as a staff member from 2011-2016, I can say with unwavering confidence that MTC is not just a summer camp, but an inclusive community with a profound global reach. My experiences and friendships made here will last a lifetime. The myriad of day and evening activities facilitated by this well-trained and empowered staff have created an environment I wish every teen could experience. I count my blessings for having spent as many summers there as I did. The Maine Teen Camp experience is more than any ordinary sleep

Maine Teen Camp is truly close to my heart. I unfortunately never got to go here as a camper, but I have been able to experience Maine Teen Camp as an adult and I can honestly say it has been a home away from home. I have had the privilege and the pleasure to work beside some amazing staff members, teaching and making incredible memories for teenagers from all across the world who have chosen to leave their busy lives for a couple weeks and join us for a session or a whole summer at camp.
While working at Maine Teen Camp I not only got to work for amazing mentors, but I got to be one myself. Matt

Wonderful place to send your teen. They are screen free and they love it! Unique offering as most camps start much younger and end younger. International campers add to the experience. Owner Matt Pines is extremely caring, responsive, thoughtful, and professional. The philosophy is inclusive and progressive.

Maine Teen Camp is foundational to who I am. Not only did I meet friends of a lifetime and my future husband (getting married at camp in 2021!!) here, camp provided me with a creative, safe, and stable space during a time when I really needed it. I urge anyone looking for more information on camp's culture and why it is such a special place for the ~teenage years~ to reach out to the owners and staff. They're camp smart, adolescent development smart, and want to create the best environment for all.
The sheer size and love of this camp's community should speak for

Where can I begin? Maine Teen Camp is such an amazing and special place for me.
I have been a camp nurse at MTC for six years. I am now a Nurse Practitioner, and still make it a priority to spend time as a nurse there each summer.
My first two years, my son went as well, as a camper.
It was a life changing experience for both of us.
My son struggled socially. And Maine Teen Camp gave him an opportunity, for the first time, to be appreciated for the awesome human being he is. Counselors and campers alike showed unconditional love for everyone. Picking on kids, and bullying is 100% -100% not

My son has attended Maine Teen Camp for 3 summers now, and the experience has been life changing for him. He has had the chance to try so many new things - water skiing, rock climbing, white water rafting, black smiting, the list goes on. Pretty much any activity you can think of is available to try and with excellent instructors and coaches. The staff is absolutely amazing. It is obvious they care a great deal and love what they do. The voice lessons he took at MTC were much more productive than the after school classes he had tried and the instruction gave him the confidence to perform. Even

If you are looking for a camp for a teenager that has never been to sleep away look no further, Maine Teen camp is everything you'd expect. A safe place for a teen to have appropriate freedoms, meet great people from the all over the world and develop incredible independence. Our daughter wanted to go to sleep away camp two years ago at the age of 12- much later than most kids start sleep away. We sent her to a traditional sleep away camp only to learn that the girls in her bunk had known each other for 5-6 years already and were not very open to accepting a new girl in the group (very

I worked here as a counselor for several years and had some of the best summers of my life! The kids who come from all over the world are wonderful! The staff is so much fun! If you like being outdoors and working with kids, this is the place for you. The scenery alone at MTC is amazing! You are surrounded by nature! The programs at this camp are like no other. They have all of the general stuff too, but what Maine Teen Camp has that few other camps have are things like a climbing wall, a ropes course, a jewelry studio, a stained glass studio, and pottery. They also have their very own music studio

I spent many many summers here as a teenage camper and many more as a counselor...I even met the man who would become my husband here!
The camp itself is beautiful, set over an idyllic maine lake with two beaches - one for swimming and another for watersports like wakeboarding and waterskiing. It's surrounded by pine which makes for a scent that constantly reminds you of where you are and how lucky you are to be there.
The programs are amazing and there is really something for everyone. From water sports to theatre to fine arts to cooking to land sports and even a high ropes course, everyone

I had a very unpleasant experience with this camp. Due to a medical emergency, my daughter was unable to attend. I was told my deposit might be returned if a provided a doctor's note. The camp owner, Matt Pines, acknowledged in an e-mail that he received the note and will give me a call. That call never came. I will never consider this camp again and advise others to think carefully before dealing with them.
