I brought my 20 year old Lexus in for a significant amount of work. I left it for the day and Simmons arranged a rental car through Enterprise. At the end of the day, a Friday my car was not done. The owner called and told me he would pay for my rental through the weekend so they could finish my car.

You never really want to have to find a good mechanic when you need one and are relatively new to an area, but I was in that position recently and Simmons Automotive was as good as it gets.

I called them on Monday because my oil light was coming on after having had it changed 5 weeks ago. They got me in early the next morning and from beginning to end, the customer service and mechanical expertise were spot on. They were friendly and polite (especially Austin), efficient, did a great job communicating the problem and the solution (valve replacements for several slow leaks). The cost seemed reasonable

I generally frown when having to find a new mechanic, but upon my first call to this place, I had nothing but a wonderful experience.

I took a car I was considering purchasing for my son to be inspected here on a moments notice and they worked me into their schedule. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable of cars but they found a lot more things than I had during my own inspection of the car. I specifically wanted them to check the mechanical side of things but they found numerous body issues I had not even noticed. The car ran better than other like cars I had recently test driven. They did a complete overhaul of my Silverado. Since I know about 10% of what goes on under the hood of my truck I want a shop to educate me and explain the issues and resolutions. Simmons did all that for me and my wife which put us at ease having the work done at this shop.
The employees are very friendly, they call multiple times a day with updates to keep you posted, great customer service and they hit the date they gave us for completion.

This is now my go to shop for vehicle work, thanks to Simmons I can stop going to all the other shady places which makes me feel like I need to shower

Mr. Simmons himself messaged me and let me know about all the changes that they have made since our first not-so-great interaction there. He also invited us to come back in and get our van serviced, and he would take the diagnostic fee that we incurred last time out of our final cost.

We took a second chance and were very impressed. I could tell they had made some big changes with their staffing and policies, and how they communicate with their customers. This means a lot to me that they listened to our feedback and cared about our experience.

They miscommunicationed the price of the repair to me over the phone, not telling me about the $150 “diagnostic charge.” If I would have known the actual price I would have paid $150 and taken it somewhere else for my repairs. They wouldn’t budge when I told them the situation. Very difficult having this happen to a family of 6 at Christmas Time. Be prepared to pay money on top of the repairs so they can tell you what is wrong.

I really wanted to like this place. Finding a good mechanic is hard enough, but finding a honest one can be just as hard. These folks are so warm and seem really helpful except that the service falls flat on it's face.

Like I said before, I really wanted to like these guys however after getting my diagnosis I was discussed with them. First of all, I'm not a big car guy but with YouTube I can do my fair share of car repairs, however a transmission is not something I want to deal with. I called & talked to a super rude lady to get a rough estimate. I had read reviews about the outrageous diagnostic charges, and was weary about the "complimentary inspection" that they offer. She rudely overstated the "COMPLIMENTARY" inspection is "COMPLIMENTARY." I had to be rude right back, and hang up. :( Going elsewhere...

I am the kind of person who is willing to work on cars to a point. I've changed tons of cars oil, brakes, swapped lines, hoses, etc in my day. But I know where my limits are and they stop at what I thought was a transmission problem. I was please to find Simmon's Automotive was nearby and had good reviews and was offering a free check-engine-light special. I booked an appointment and never looked back. While the people that work there are as sweet as can be, I still left feeling completely ripped off! I spent $90 for a "diagnosis" which consisted of a guy looking under my hood, doing a quick test drive and then telling me I needed new spark plugs. Simple as my plugs miss firing. Went home and put in new plugs. Same problem...
Well that's because I needed a complete new transmission!!! How could you not feel that?? How could you say spark plugs?? Horrible mechanic!
I really feel I deserve a refund! That has to be the worse miss diagnosis ever! I came back the next day and explained

Brought my car in a few months ago because of shifting problems. Quoted me $85 for a diagnostic. Went with it and couldn't find anything. I replaced my spark plugs at home and changed transmission fluid as they told me it was darker than normal and my plugs were dirty. Was quoted almost $600 to do all of that which can be done at home. Fixed those problems and the problem still persisted with the shifting. Had my brother look in the hood the next day, and come to find out my oil was low. Simmons never told me. AMAZING customer service. I came in with some major coolant leaks to my Buick Lesabre, and they were not pushy, they did not try to upsell me, they just told me exactly what was wrong with my car and gave me a quote to fix it. I know absolutely nothing about cars, so knowing these guys are looking out for me is amazing. They did a follow up check a week later just to make sure everything was running smoothly, and called me after a month or so to check in again. Will definitely be going back here for all my automotive needs.

Great service! I brought my Tahoe in to figure out what was causing noise with it. They were very thorough and easy to work with. The owner chatted with me and they ultimately diagnosed the problem. I did not use them for the repair and traded in the car instead. I will use them again if I need vehicle service. Great business!

This is the best shop I have ever been to. They are honest, fair and go above and beyond to meet my needs. I've been coming here for the past three years and everyone is always super helpful and friendly. They always try to work around my schedule and I really feel like they care about their customers.

I've always had problems with mechanics around both Thurston & Pierce county, they would always misdiagnose me or spring last minute charges that I had no idea about. Used YELP to assist in looking for a shop near home. Truck blew a spark plug in the head. The noise was a big 'unknown' for us. Sounded like a show stopper. The initial phone call with Sara was painless and professional to get the work started. (Huge trust issues in the past when not using dealership mechanics in the past.) Last month we had someone come to our house and offer us an Auto Service Program for Simmons Automotive. We were new to the area and needed to find a place to take our vehicles so I went ahead and purchased two in hopes that it would be a good deal.
