The Seattle Insight Meditation Society (SIMS) is a nonprofit organization founded by a group of longtime practitioners. The mission of SIMS is to offer the Buddha's teachings on insight and awareness to all those who seek them and to support a spiritual community centered in the Pacific Northwest. SIMS relies on donations to continue to provide a place to practice with sangha.
The teachings are provided freely to all who seek them and our teachers rely on dana for their livelihood.

Services
Seattle Insight Meditation Society (SIMS) is an all-volunteer Dharma community devoted to offering the Buddha's teachings on wisdom and compassion to all those who seek them. Through meditation and daily practice, SIMS encourages an ongoing investigation of our lives for the liberation of all beings and the stewardship of the planet.
Acceptance of any contribution, gift or grant is at the discretion of SIMS. SIMS will not accept any gift unless it can be used or expended consistently with the purpose and mission of SIMS. No irrevocable gift, whether outright or life-income in character, will be accepted if under any reasonable set of circumstances the gift would jeopardize the donor's financial security.
A permanent AV system to allow for live-streaming of SIMS events, as well as offer "hybrid" events-both in person and virtual. Desirable: A new HVAC system to ensure healthy air and a small kitchen (access to UFM social area will continue). Sooz Appel, Local Dharma Leader, speaks to how the Dharma has been priceless through her journey of loss and joy and, why giving Dana, no matter the amount, is needed to create a new spiritual home for SIMS.
This six week course teaches the fundamentals of insight or mindfulness meditation and is highly recommended before attending other classes and events. It's designed to help you establish a regular home practice. Our regular classes and events do not teach meditation techniques. Basic meditation instruction is highly recommended to people new to meditation before attending other offerings.
Retreat is especially useful in strengthening practice capacity. The combination of a dedicated practice period, increased meditation and continuity of mindfulness provide the idea conditions for greater understanding and wisdom. The container provides a safe environment in which to reflect upon the greater implications of having a regular meditation practice in our lives and the possibility of developing a natural inquiring mind.

My first experience at this Seattle Meditation Center. The facility is beautiful, and the program with guest, Sharon Salzberg was amazing. I can't wait until tomorrow, which is day 2. I will be visiting this venue often. One doesn't have to be a Buddhist to benefit from her teachings. I highly recommend!
