Joy Thompson, BS, CLT, LMT, E-RYT, is licensed by the state of Virginia as a Massage Therapist and recognized by LANA and the NLN as a Certified Lymphedema Therapist. She holds a B.S. degree from Biola University in La Mirada, California which was granted in 1987.
Joy first became interested in massage as a faculty member of the Academy of Massage Therapy at the Institute of Health & Healing in Newport News, VA, where she taught Anatomy & Physiology, as well as many other courses, from 2006-2012.Since graduation, she has taken advanced courses in Structural integration and Manual Lymphatic Drainage and is now a Certified Lymphedema Therapist.

Here in VA, massage therapists are not affiliated with any provider group, and therefore are unable to submit to insurance. However, we are happy to provide a receipt for your visit which you can then submit to your insurance company or Flexible Spending Account (FSA). Insurance companies and FSAs that do reimburse typically require a medical diagnosis.

Joy is well a Joy to get my lymphatic drainage massage from. I am a cosmetic patient but I took out the time to read her website. I looked up lymphatic massage and what I should expect. I contacted her prior to my surgery in the US. Her methods and my surgeon's were one in the same. As a nurse I knew the recovery process and need for post op care. Joy is so delightful to work with. Completely recommend. I went in for a lymph drainage. Joy was great on giving me information and she even sent a follow on email with even more resources and stores to check out or products to look into. She suggested compression stockings for me and told me what to look for.

I have been getting massages for about 20 years. Whole Body Therapeutics is the best I've ever experienced! Joy is perfectly named: she IS a joy! She is also an amazing masseuse! I have had several massages from her, as well as a fantastic deep tissue massage from Dominique, and an outstanding deep tissue/sports type massage from Chaz that transformed my muscles! He found knots in my hamstrings I didn't know were there! The pricing is outstanding and I will be a client for life! While you're there, also talk to Claudette about acupuncture! She is also helping me with a problem in my neck.

I had a great experience at Whole Body Therapeutics. The office was extremely clean and the staff was friendly and personable. I felt very comfortable. My visit to the office was for a massage and I'm very pleased with the outcome. The Owner, Joy, that did my massage is very professional, very nice, and very skilled at what she's doing. I would definitely recommend this practice to others.

My husband and I started seeing Joy and her staff a few months ago and we've been so pleased with every massage we've received! I was pregnant when we first went to Joy and she gave me several wonderful prenatal massages before my baby was born. Massage - Christine Hunter is the best! I have reduced pain medication and have less pain since I have been getting the Isometric Muscle body Balancing massage. The other therapists are personable and friendly. All good feelings.
The Yoga is fantastic. Being able to attend a class and get assistance in the proper form has helped my personal yoga practice advance.

I absolutely loved every massage I received from Joy Thompson. I have never fallen asleep when getting massaged until coming here. It's amazing and Joy is very experienced and knowledgeable and professional. I would definitely recommend Whole Body Therapeutics to anyone needing any type of massage. This place is amazing! I feel like a million bucks after they work their magic on me!! I would recommend this place to anyone who is in pain or just wants to feel like a new person.
