Sandy Bay Yacht Club
Sandy Bay Yacht Club was founded in 1885. The clubhouse is situated in the harbor of the scenic and historic coastal town of Rockport, Massachusetts. SBYC has many one-design and cruising sailboats that race in regular weekend and Wednesday evening races, also annual club regattas and club-sponsored district and national regattas.

We also have an active social program. SBYC is host to the Sandy Bay Sailing Program which provides basic to advanced training for juniors and adults. We aim to give students broad exposure to sailboat racing, to instill a love of the sport, and to develop safe, independent sailors. Social events including chowders, weekend coffees, after-sailing get togethers, dances, cookouts, and catered or potluck suppers.
Services
Open from mid-April through mid-October, Sandy Bay Yacht Club is located north of Boston on Cape Ann, at the end of T Wharf in Rockport Harbor where our current Clubhouse was built in 1930. The Sandy Bay Yacht Club held its initial meeting for permanent organization last Monday evening.

There was a good attendance, and the following gentlemen were chosen officers: Leander M. Haskins, Commodore; Howard H. Haul, Fleet Captain; Lemuel Clark, Measurer; Chas.Mills, Secretary and Treasurer. Regatta Committee - Chas. Cunningham, G.T. Margeson, Grafton Butman, Wm. Hale, H.H. Paul. A meeting will be held next Monday evening at the Club Room, Haskins' Block.
We offer sailing lessons to sailors of all ages and abilities; from beginners to racers and cruisers, ages 8 and up. Our racing programs offer experienced sailors the opportunity to travel locally and regionally, competing against other sailors their own age. In addition to wonderful sailing opportunities, Sandy Bay Yacht Club offers excellent social opportunities.
This handbook is intended as a Junior Sailing Program reference guide for both parents and students. It contains a review of program policies, helpful information, names and phone numbers of people to contact, and some background about our staff. It also includes Program evaluation forms. Please complete these for each session you attend and return them to the Sailing Progrtam Director.
The Sandy Bay Yacht Club Sailing Program and Scholarship Fund, Inc. (SSP) offers a limited amount of scholarships to sailors who might otherwise be unable to afford participation in our sailing program.

This scholarship program has been established to provide an opportunity for qualified students who demonstrate an economic need to participate in the sport of sailing without discrimination in regards to race, color, national origin, sex, disability, and age.
This regatta is for both Optis and 420s. For Registration, the Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions, Entry List, and Results, go to Clubspot. Racing students are encouraged to participate in the weekend and holiday races held at SBYC, as well as the many opportunities for racing at other clubs in our area and beyond.

A buddy grew up in these parts and his family longtime members. was only too happy to join up for a sail aboard a New England-made Rhodes 19 (club fleet) from Rockport Harbor toThacher Island, a 50 acre wildlife refuge on Cape Ann with the only operating twin lighthouses remaining in America. it was an easy cruise on the way, then picked up sporting wind and speed back...awesome memorial day on the water.
