Located at 976 Poplar Street, Da1Above is nestled on a quiet street in the historical Goldenberg Building in Santa Clara, California. Da1Above is a salon with an intimate and personal environment with the focus on our client. We specialize in ethnic hair but our clientele is diverse with all hair types.
Her vision for "Da 1 Above" started in 1999. She saw an environment where the needs of the whole person could be met, "A Place of Peace". Her clientele would be diverse. Her aunt (Freddie Smith, of World Vision College of Cosmetology) owned 3 beauty colleges, and inspired Clyther to go to cosmetology school.

I had a wonderful experience at this salon! I was new to the San Jose area and my hair desperately needed professional help. I went in on my birthday and Ms. Clyther was so kind making sure my hair needs were met, as well as explaining every step making sure I was informed. Especially since it was my first salon visit in years (my ends were a mess ). I'm tenderheaded and my scalp is still sore a day later, but it was my fault for not taking better care of my ends lol I've learned my lesson! I went in at 8AM and even 12hrs after my hair was done it still had shine and great movement. I knew my hair

I came here maybe 4 years ago and got my hair braided. The women here are genuine, knowledgeable and make you feel very warm and welcomed. I get my hair braided every so often. My hair is long again and I'll be here as soon as they are back up and open. Due to covid.

Clyther Felix has been my hair stylist for 12 years. I love her spirit, the atmosphere of her shop, and her knowledge of haircare.
I recently tried Design Essentials STS Express Smoothing System for the first time. Hair came out very silky, looked and felt moisturized. The product has good reviews and claims to strengthen the hair and reduce breakage. Can't wait to see if that's true. Very happy thus far with look, feel, manageability!

My family and I have been going to Clythia's for over a decade! She did my graduation hair and she did my wedding. She's practically part of my family (and was a guest at the aforementioned wedding)!
I do not use any chemicals in my hair and Clythia has this gift to always get my hair super straight without weighing it down at all with oil.
Last time I was at the Salon I decided to get a cellophane with red tint in it. This was my first time coloring my hair and it came out better than I had expected! My sister got the on trend French braids by Tay and they came out great!

Ms. Clythia is the sweetest stylist I have ever met. Very thorough and definitely cares about the upkeep of your hair. She uses nothing but top of the line products which I really appreciate.

I was blessed to find Clyther on yelp as I was looking for someone who could do multiracial black hair for my wedding day in the Santa Cruz area and was really struggling to find someone. I knew when I went for the hair trial my hair was going to be stunning on my wedding day. Not only did Clyther do my hair beautifully, she was incredibly kind, generous, and really reasonably priced. On my wedding day, Clyther brought it and my hair was silky and absolutely perfect.
This is run like a family business so if you're lucky you should expect to get some extra love and attention from her adorable

Clyther and her assistant Ms. Tae do an excellent job! After moving to the Bay Area from Seattle, I tried many salons before I found these two that I trust with my hair. I used to get my hair relaxed for years with them until I decided a few years ago to try going natural. Recently I decided to go back to a straighter look and they recommended a new Matrix Straightening System which has been AMAZING.

I went here for the first time and was welcomed by a genuine women who did an excellent job on my hair. Finding the right black salon in the Bay Area is difficult at times and this is definitely the place I will continue to go to as long as I live in San Jose.

I am from Brooklyn, New York and was out here in the San Jose area for work . I am natural and my hair needed some TLC. I went to Da 1 Above and I loved it. Ms. Clytheia (sp) is professional, competent and oh so sweet.
As I travel for work often I am always concerned about finding salons that provide services to African-American women who have natural hair. I actually made an appointment on Friday for Saturday afternoon with no issue. When I arrived I was taken right away. The shop is homey and comfortable, I got a deep conditioning and two strand twists for my services.

My daughter and I have been going to Mrs.Clyther for years and when I first came to her my hair was in bad shape. After coming to her for a few weeks my hair started to grow and get longer as well and so did my daughter's hair. Mrs. Clyther is like a mother to me who always has a smile on her face and a kind word to say. She also did me and my daughter's hair for my wedding which was this past June and it turned out beautiful. I thank god every day for bringing her into my life. Fantastic! I went to Da 1 Above for wedding hair and makeup for myself and my two bridesmaids. Planning my wedding from across the country (I live in New York), I was extremely nervous about finding someone sight unseen. Once we walked into Clyther's shop, I knew I had nothing to worry about. I just have to say how blessed we continue to be by going to Da one Above. Clyther took my short lifeless hair and gave it life, in Jesus name! It is beautiful and growing. My daughters hair is down her back, and that is NO FLUKE! Even my mom's hair is growing. For kids, Clyther suggest the two strand twist. It works wonders!
