Dupuytren's contracture is a hand condition where thickening of the underlying fibrous tissues of the palm causes the fingers to bend inward. Inflammation and swelling of the tendon sheaths put pressure on the adjacent nerves and leads to pain and numbness in the thumb side of the wrist. I was there this past week to have my hip examined. First, Arthur (he didn't introduce himself, I had to ask him who he was) asked me a few questions. He was Dr. Capeci's assistant. Total lack of interpersonal skills. Next, I was sent for x-rays (the technician was very pleasant). Then I met with Dr. Capeci (friendly guy), who told me that I was not experiencing pain from my hip, but it was my back that was the issue, and I would have to come back to see their back specialist. Why didn't he come into the room before I had the x-rays taken? Didn't I waste my time by getting my

Dr. Craig Capeci is one hell of a surgeon. He did a torn rotator cuff repair & a shoulder replacement. Both turned out magnificently. I saw Dr. Capeci at the Brooklyn Spine and Arthritis Center at 263 7th Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. He's very knowledgeable, compassionate, great expertise and good personality. He's always there to answer questions. His staff is very helpful at all times. Very compassionate staff.

Dr. Youm is an awesome doctor and surgeon, with a caring down to earth attitude. He repaired the rotator cuffs and biceps on both of my shoulders. He takes the time to fully explain all the surgical and non-surgical options available . His patient post surgical follow-up is more than just a phone call. He monitors his patients recovery closely, which I truly appreciate. Also the RYC Orthopedic medical and clerical staff are great. They are very accommodating when making or changing appointments, setting up surgery dates, obtaining required medical equipment to assist in patient recovery, very

Dr. Youm and staff are first rate. He did both knee replacements six mos. apart. Excellent minimally invasive results. The practice understands post-op PT and recovery. Highly recommend.
As for the dissatisfied reviewer, well it's possible to have a both torn meniscus and arthritis. I'm also a life-long runner. Five yrs ago at age 45 I went to a GP for what I thought was a torn meniscus. MRI showed that. And the xrays of my knees showed: advanced arthritis.

Dr Capeci was my second opinion and thank god I went to him. He helped me weigh out my options as far as my injury went. At no point, did I feel pressured into getting pain shots, taking pain meds or having surgery. He did fix my labrum and Im currently in recovery- so far so good. I do agree with the reviews thar his staff can be a bit sassy but if you sass them back, they chill out.

My experience was so awful that I actually signed up for Yelp to post a review.
Let me start by saying I am a widow and mom to an 8 year old boy.
The staff was very courteous, however, I waited in a packed waiting room for 90 minutes. I assumed that the doctor was probably taking time with patients and that it was worth the wait.
My appointment started with X Rays. After the X Rays, I waited again to see the doctor.
After examining the X Ray, the doctor gave me a diagnosis of arthritis. I am a runner, former personal trainer and had done some research prior to the appointment. I explained

I am very pleased with my experience at RYC Orthopaedics, as well as the surgical center chosen by Dr. Rose (Manhattan Surgery Center). The staff at RYC Orthopaedics is courteous, prompt in returning my calls and responding to questions, and very capable at managing my records. Dr. Rose is an excellent surgeon – my surgery went exactly as he predicted, my recovery has been fast, and a lot less painful than I'd feared. I will definitely return to RYC for surgery on my other knee and I highly recomment Dr. Rose.

Dr. Capeci is friendly and I had a good experience with him. I went there for knee pain and left with a prescription for physical therapy. He x-rayed my knees but no MRI bc insurance wants patients to do pt and not need one. Anyway, his reception is so rude I don't even want to schedule the follow up appointment just so I can avoid the aggravation of speaking with them again.

Surgery coordinator is ruining the entire patient experience.
My surgeon was excellent and the medical equipment provider was also helpful. However, the reception - Nicole Williams is her name - was absolutely nasty and unprofessional to myself and my health assistant.
I want to make an informed choice and work with in-network providers and facilities. But Nicole's attitude and unprofessionalism have caused me great suffering and miscommunication with my insurance company.
Examples: She was extremely reluctant to provide details to my insurance company, blaming me for asking too much information
