The Duchman Family Winery was founded in 2004 by Drs. Lisa and Stan Duchman in a quest to bring world-class winemaking to Central Texas and the Texas Hill Country. Their love of the unique Italian grape varieties as well as similar weather patterns to Texas inspired them to work with viticultural consultants and growers in the Texas High Plains AVA to produce grapes that would allow their winemakers, Dave Reilly and Mark Penna, to experiment with making wines like Vermentino, Sangiovese, and Dolcetto.

This winery is so beautiful, I could live there.
The views are breathtaking, and the main house is absolutely impressive, I was so impressed with the property I had to explore it further on my own.
They have been operating since 2004 and turned the former residence into a tasting, event and sales space. The sunroom and patio are perfect for enjoying a tasing or a bottle of wine among friends.
I actually sampled all of the wines on my visit to the vineyard, of course my preference is red, but I found many of the whites quite refreshing. Although the pool is no longer used for swimming, it

Beautiful location next to an Italian restaurant (they aren't affiliated). We got food from them and ate at a picnic table outside the winery.
We tried two whites and a red, fairly inexpensive for a glass of wine. I think I paid $6-$8 per glass.. and they were all delicious!
The only struggle is to find a place to sit during a weekend.. took a bit of patience before we got a spot.
Dog friendly outside, too :)

I'm a huge fan of the property and how much green space they offer and the nibbles offered are quite tasty (especially the truffle fries). I'm not weeping with joy from any of the wines but they're easy enough to drink.
It's particularly lovely for violet crown sunsets, so save it for your last stop if you're making the rounds in this neck of the woods.
They don't have any ice, which I find supremely odd being that it's Texas and they serve white wine! If you want to keep your wine chilled while sitting outside (they've got plenty of gorgeous trees to provide

Over priced tasting . $17 tasting for very small pours of 6 wines . No water in tasting room. Had to go get it yourself . No crackers or palate cleansers . If it was a free tasting I wouldn't care as much . When I made reservation I was specific about food and was not given accurate info. You are not able to order food or eat during the tasting. Food only available to purchase after tasting was over. Servers poured wine on top of previous tasting . Missed poured twice . Server changed frequently and not consistent. They obviously are not organized to keep track of what wine we should be on

The winery is beautiful and the wine is ok but we didn't find the staff to be very friendly. We ordered two snacks and both left a lot to be desired. The watermelon was soggy and smooshed up. We tossed whether to bring it back or not, and finally I did. The girl brought me another one which was fresh. Why serve me the nasty one first?? Unfortunately our experience wasn't good.

Duchman is one of my favorites around the area. The winery is simple and small but has an European charm.
I've done the tasting before and also just purchased wine by glass. Both are delightful. Tasting is nice for first timers to explore a variety of wines Duchman produces. Because of the tasting, I was able to find my favorite red and white wine of theirs. And for $10/tasting, it is such a steal!! (Price may have changed. This was based off of 2018). After my first visit, I just opt to get a bottle or glass of my favorite red and sip it on the patio taking in good wine, views, and company

Before our visit we were so excited to visit this place. It was a nice place out but if we felt ignored. They really have poor customer service. I had a review but it was taken down by yelp for whatever reason, I was so surprise when from rude employee message me on my yelp apologizing personally, and apparently there was a guy anonymously message me regarding my review to be reposted. Eventually found they are working together and engaging me on whatever conflict they have. Thus, proven that they really have poor customer service , very unprofessional.I wont be surprise if they will ask yelp to

The property was beautiful and everyone was spaced out nicely. Due to COVID, they served bottles only and light snacks that you can purchase. I would say bring your own cooler or something to keep your wine chilled as they didn't have buckets or anything. Will definitely return! There is also an Italian restaurant next door that you can order food from and bring back to your table!

Duchman is a great winery to visit near Austin that makes great wines.
I've recently been on a kick to learn more about and try Texas wines. I've tried wine from several different Texas wineries in the past couple months (all purchased from wine stores) and Duchman is so far my favorite. I prefer red wines and my favorite Duchman wines are the Aglianico and Sangiovese. Since the winery is so close to Austin, my husband and I decided to visit. The grounds are beautiful - the perfect place for a picnic. I appreciate the precautions they've taken due to COVID-19 too. You can&apos

Nice stop just outside Austin for a wine tasting! The outside setting is very cool, spacious front lawn and some tables/chairs for hanging out. Dropped into this place for a quick wine tasting, consisting of 6 small pours of wine. The whites we tasted were all very smooth, not overly sweet but just the right amount of smooth & dry. Definitely recommend sampling all the whites if you have time, you won't be disappointed!
We didn't go check out Trattoria next door for food, but have been there in the past and pretty good Italian food, pairs well with the winery.
If you come here and

Really beautiful property. We wanted to go to Salt Lick and wanted to find some other activities in the area so came here for a tasting before lunch. They do $15 for 6, which is pretty good, and was offering 5% off your total bill for following them on Instagram.
There's some beautiful benches set up outside to go with your glass of wine. It unfortunately seemed to be drought season when we visited so the actual grape plants were pretty bare. Once you step inside, there's a small room where the tastings happen and the shop where they sell bottles and all kinds of souvenirs. There unfortunately

I live in California and only an hour away from Napa. I wasn't expecting anything close to what one would experience in Napa. However, I still wasn't fully pleased.
The only way I can imagine that someone would really enjoy it, is to bring your own picnic and use their outdoor seating area. This is of course conditioned on the weather and also whether or not there is gonna be any bachelorette party there during your visit. (We saw two when we visited and they were so loud and they had overtaken all the outdoor seatings)
We tried their tasting. It was only $15 which is relatively cheap

Stopped by this lovely winery on a weekend trip to Austin. Did a short wine tasting and walked around a bit. If you want to tour the actual production facility, be sure to schedule it in advance. The staff was amazing and very knowledgeable. The two ladies that we did the tasting with were very friendly; I wish I could remember their names! Was not overly impressed with the actual wine, but my favorite was the Canto Felice.

The location is beautiful. They have a lot of sitting areas and it is a nice place to have a glass and sit back. The tasting is $12 for 6 choices of their wines. They only have reds and whites and they don’t really have a big selection. They do have some snacks to offer like cheese and crackers. The lady who was taking care of us was overall friendly. I personally am a sweet wine kind of gal and all their wines were dry with the exception of one. Probably wouldn’t return because of that reason but if dry wine is for you then you should try it out.
