Georgia Dental Society
The Georgia Dental Society (GDS) is the Georgia Constituent of the National Dental Association, and remains the premier organization for minority dental professionals in the state of Georgia. It is our mission to address oral health concerns in underserved communities and to enhance the educational development and financial success of all aspiring dental professionals.

Invisalign's invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners will give you the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted. And best of all, no one can tell you're wearing them. Invisalign is great for adults and teenagers. What is Invisalign? Invisalign is the invisible way to straighten. Teeth that are badly stained, shaped or crooked may be improved by a veneer placed on the surface of the affected teeth.
Services
The Georgia Dental Society is historically an organization of African-American Dentists that was founded in 1937 to address the concerns of the minority dentists and the people whom they serve. Since its inception it has become a source for continuing education, scholarships, mentorship programs and community service.
It is an honor to serve as the Georgia Dental Society's President for 2019 and 2020. I am eager to get to know more of you, along with your interests and concerns. As President, my goal is to promote the values of the Georgia Dental Society and the importance of our involvement in organized dentistry.

Sealants are liquid coatings that harden on the chewing surfaces of teeth and are showing a great deal of effectiveness in preventing cavities-even on teeth where decay has begun. The pits and grooves of your teeth are prime areas for opportunistic decay.

When X-rays pass through your mouth during a dental exam, more X-rays are absorbed by the denser parts (such as teeth and bone) than by soft tissues (such as cheeks and gums) before striking the film. This creates an image on the radiograph. What is flossing? Flossing is a method for removing bacteria and other debris that cannot be reached by a toothbrush.
Some cases of acute periodontal (gum) disease that do not respond to more conventional treatment and self-care such as flossing may require a special kind of cleaning called scaling and root planing. The procedure begins with administration of a local anesthetic to reduce any discomfort. Root canals are tiny passageways that branch off from beneath the top of the tooth, coursing their way vertically downward, until they reach the tip of the root.
