When I work with you as an individual, I help you navigate not only your current external struggles (relationships, work, life activities), but your inner world, which affects everything about how you are showing up in your life in all those categories. Our work together will include looking at how your story has shaped how you feel, relate, and move through life.
Just as you are unique, so is every counselor. Here are some thoughts about my approach to the counseling process that create the best environment for positive change. Most people trust counselors somewhat implicitly because they have degrees, letters behind their names, licenses, certifications, etc.
I hear many expressions from clients about problems and challenges that they want to address. Life has a way, sooner or later, of bloodying all of us, even those whose lives may have seemed privileged or charmed in the beginning. If you seek a counselor, you're likely confronting some harsh realities at this point in your journey.
Whether at a party, church, or while shopping, you watch other couples holding hands, exchanging glances of warmth, affection, and laughter. You had that, once upon a time. I feel trapped. What are my options? I could focus on my work, hobbies, the kids - maybe when they're grown, I'll move on from this marriage.
How have all those choices turned out? How satisfied are you with your choices in the categories of your life that mean the most to you? You've accomplished much in your life so far, partly because you had the vision to choose the right paths. But where does the path ahead lead? What are the essential choices to make going forward?

I’ve had the opportunity to work with Monte over the course of several years and.the experience has been life-changing. Monte King was a invaluable help to me during a period of great need. After being trapped in a cycle of addiction for a few years, I knew I needed help.
