Our winery is open for wine tasting and Wine Club parties. We've expanded our gift options, added a wide selection of food items to the tasting room, and offer eggs from our farm. Enjoy your wine inside the winery or in our new outdoor shaded picnic area. Our signature collection, Matt's finest hand crafted wines from the best grapes of the vintage.

Services
The tasting room is located in the winery, with easy access and convenient parking. It is managed by our family and staffed with our knowledgeable and friendly Compton staff. Taste, sample, ask questions, let us help you choose what fits your tastes and needs. Best of all, you can buy exactly what you like from our several premium offerings.
Prince of Pinot says: Sourced from multiple vineyards and includes Pommard, Wadenswil, 777 and 667 clones. If you are like us, you check out the customer reviews when you go shopping online. So we decided to do the tasting notes for this wine a bit differently. The following are the notes from a group of Corvallis area wine enthusiasts tasting toe 2018 vintage.
Very pleasant aromas of chocolate, cherry and spice. The mid weight dark red cherry and blueberry flavors cascade through a welcome attack and mid palate, finishing with length and cherry-fueled goodness. Nicely balanced with added accents of spice, tobacco and saline. The vineyards are set into the coastal foothills in Philomath Oregon.
Sourced from multiple vineyards averaging 35 years of age and all dry-farmed located in the southern coastal foothills of the Willamette Valley. Clones are mostly Pommard, Wadenswil and Dijon 115 planted in marine alluvial and sedimentary soils that typically show darker fruits, earth tones and heavier and chewier tannins.
Scents of fresh pear, wild thyme and sea breeze. Flavors are driven by a consistent acidity and minerality, balanced by Meyer lemon and juicy pear. The classic Pinot Blanc racy "edge" persists in the lengthy finish. A tasting room favorite and a super versatile food pairing wine, complimenting fish, chicken, roasted veggies, or a wood fired white-sauced pizza.

Best winery we’ve visited in Oregon. The staff are so friendly - the essence of what we look for in any business. They were incredibly helpful and took their time with us. We had our two girls with us as well (9 and 10) and not a single complaint :).
There were other folks in the winery but we felt like we were the only ones. Well done.

We've enjoyed each visit to the Compton Family Winery. These have varied from dates to pick up new releases which are accompanied by food parings, hands on classes on blending white wines and an other on blending reds to make our own fusions, and special events such as an annual Valentines Event. Staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable. And, of course, we go because of the quality wines.

Came in for a tasting this afternoon and was completely forgotten about. Another group was served quite a bit of time after me. I kindly waited until... 20 minutes for a tasting is to the point of being ridiculous. That is flat out uncalled for. Terrible customer service, no offer to comp the tasting for the long wait.. nothing. Wine stands true to their customer service.. and I would rate this wine a flat zero. Terrible - do not recommend as they need to evaluate their customer service.

We love Compton Family Winery. The wines are very good and they offer such a great variety of wines. Matt and Tabitha are such hard workers and so very hospitable, it’s a joy to visit them. Their price point is very fair and quite reasonable for the quality of the wines.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely last month as we had our tasting outside with Tabitha serving and visiting with us.
Our cellar is definitely well stocked with Compton Wines.

We love this small, local family-run winery. The wine is very good and affordable. Matt and Tabitha make you feel like a welcome guest. They have recently added outdoor seating in addition to the tasting room. The only downside is it doesn't have a lovely view to enjoy while sipping their great wine.

I had the pleasure of visiting Compton Family Wines when they were called Spindrift Cellars back in late Dec. 2019. I believe Spindrift was the winemaker's first label and were transitioning into the Compton Family Wines label during our visit. The Winemaker's last name...only makes sense...duh!
There are small handful of Urban Wineries in Philomath. Compton Family WInes has a nice elegant tasting room. There are board games, cards and a few other stimulating distractions to keep the young ones occupied. At the time of our visit, the tasting menu had seven options for us to enjoy. I

This was THE wine that got me started loving Pinot Noir's and the Willamette Valley. They currently don't ship to TN, but they're working on it!! Such a great wine and story- family owned and operated. Great conversation with the owners while there- a must stop spot if your traveling in the Willamette.

We visited Spindrift Cellars as the last stop on our wine tour through the Philomath area....and it was pretty fun! Great place with good wines and the lady pouring the wine was very nice as well. We even showed up close to closing and she was very warm and sweet and spent time explaining the wines and chatting with us....very much appreciated!! We enjoyed our tasting and I bought a bottle of wine and a glass, a great end to a wonderful day of wine tasting!
The bottle that I bought was their late harvest Pinot Gris. I really like sweeter wines and this one was very good...I also liked their

Having been tasting in Hood River (and elsewhere) a bit I can't say I found the wines at Spindrift very impressive. None of the wines they had available for tasting were very flavorful. There was a barrel tasting in the back room and one of the 2011s tasted promising, but still nothing stellar. Prices are pretty standard. I didn't end up buying anything.

I'm a happy member of their wine club - this means for one payment every two months I get to try an amazing monthly wine. The 2006 Pinot Noir Reserve is a Gold medal winner and must have while it lasts; especially fruity and aromatic for a pinot. Not a huge white wine fan, but their pinot gris is lush and citrusy- you forget it's a white. Their syrah reminds me of a thick Calfornia juicy syrah, but is much more balanced and finishes light, not too heavy. Best of all, they are just a few miles down the road from me in Philomath and the owners are locally grown, too, like their wonderful
