Liriodendron Foundation
Sold to Harford County in the late 1970s, the mansion now operates as a historic, cultural, educational, and recreational facility, managed by the nonprofit Liriodendron Foundation, Inc. The mansion is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is open to the public, free-of-charge, every Wednesday and Sunday.

The 2nd floor of the Palladian mansion houses a free Art Gallery, and the Ice House on the property is home to a Prehistoric Native American exhibit. The 108 acres of grounds, part of Heavenly Waters Park, are open for public use from sun-up to sundown. The Liriodendron Mansion is one of Harford County's premier venues for your special event.
Services
The Liriodendron mansion was built in 1898 as the summer home of Dr. Howard Atwood Kelly, his wife, Laetitia, and their nine children. Dr. Kelly was a lauded surgeon and one of the four founding physicians of the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Medical College. The 2 12-story Palladian mansion was designed in the Georgian Revival style by Baltimore architectural firm Wyatt & Nolting.

WOW! I stopped by to attend the annual holiday craft fair. I had never been to the mansion before and it was so worth it! What a beautiful house with an absolute fabulous story! The 1st floor had photos, letters, and a history of Dr. Kelly, his family, and his life. The 2nd floor had a wide variety of craft vendors and doubled as an art gallery featuring local artists. The 3rd floor was closed but was the servants quarters during the heyday of the mansion. They even had Santa and a scavenger hunt for the kids. It was a neat way to spend an afternoon. Found out the mansion is available for weddings

It's ok for what it is. Makes a decent wedding venue, which seems to be the primary focus, but not much here unless you are deeply passionate about obscure local history.

Great history relating to Johns Hopkins Hospital founders. Beautiful place. It would stand in a tornado. The stair taking posts are maintenance nightmare yet look perfect. I will contribute to save this place.

The Liriodendron Mansion was the perfect setting for our October 1 wedding. Our guests could not stop raving about how beautiful the venue was, from the stone path to the ceremony arbor, the wisteria and twinkle lights on the patio, the backdrop of the woods, and the beautiful mansion itself. The staff are amazing to work with and so incredibly helpful, especially Leslie - she answered all of our questions, walked us through the rehearsal, and was such a delight to work with. Highly recommend if you're looking for a gorgeous venue!!!

Amazing venue. Leslie and her team helped navigate us planning a wedding during the pandemic. They were so accommodating with our schedules in terms of scheduling the tour and our final walk through. We booked a 2021 wedding in 2019 and through the pandemic , Leslie was in contact with us to give us updates and make sure we felt

This place is beautiful 😍! It has a very classy feel to it. The mansion and its surroundings have been very well maintained and the property connects you to the Ma & Pa trail. It's a perfect location and backdrop for pictures (or a music video lol)! There is a fountain ⛲ and numerous gardens on the property and the large stone patios and huge pillars combine to create some awesome architecture that you just don't get to see everyday. This property is open the public but the mansion itself is locked unless they are holding an event here which I have seen them do in the past. If you have the

We had our daughters wedding here and it was spectacular. The manor house has beautiful architecture, inside and outside and the grounds are manicured perfectly. Louise and Matt were wonderful to work with and made our day easier. The wisteria covered porch and side porticos were terrific for pictures. Lovely manor house that made a beautiful setting for our celebration.

As a wedding photographer with a background in architecture, the Liriodendron is absolutely incredible and I hope Urban Row Photography will have the opportunity to capture many more events here in the future! The wisteria arching up to the main facade forms such an elegant setting for portraits and outdoor dining. No matter the season, the Georgian architecture and grounds are absolutely breathtaking. Imagine cocktail hour out on the portico under the twinkling lights, a fireplace in every room and entering from the staircase of your dreams…
