The Morris Burner Hostel is a Burning Man inspired housing facility and community space dedicated to building community, fostering the arts, and helping to educate people in the Burning Man ethos. Above all, it is a place where we come together to manifest wonderment and make the future a better place.
We are so blessed at the Morris, to have amazing and wonderful friends. A very good friend, who is the photographer who has taken many of our photo's we use in media and print, is Vincent Cascio. He has been with the Morris almost since the beginning. His photos are gorgeous, you should check out his stuff on his website Black Virtual Media.

Hello, and welcome to the adventure that is the Morris Burner Hotel. In the essence of artistic expression, hundreds of Burners have taken an iconic 1928 four-story brick hotel in the heart of Reno and created a very, very magical place. It is much like the playa in that it changes and inspires you.
If it's Burn Season, people are constantly coming and going through the Mo. We pride ourselves on our hospitality here in the Biggest Little City, and have literally helped thousands of Burner's coming through town on their way out to the playa with rides from the airport, around town to get supplies, and even ride shares out to the playa.
If you ever have doubt about what a small group of dedicated volunteers can do, doubt no more! We also now know never, ever ever to doubt what people will have lying around, what they might be willing to donate, or the things our friends do that we never knew and yet end up benefiting from! Two or more commercial refrigerators.
This cozy hang-out space on the 2nd floor can be a reading room, place to play board games, refill water, or have a nice cup of tea. The black, white, and red juxtaposition of concepts will appeal to those with sophisticated and edgy tastes alike! Please enjoy complimentary coffee or tea here.
In homage to the 2016 Burning Man theme, DaVinci's Workshop provides inspiration by the Master for visitors to be inspired to create, continue, or seek inspiration for their own creativity! This room has a single bed. We originally configured it as a studio space, but it was so popular, folks wanted to stay there!

We are SO lucky! So very many of you have to travel from all over the world to come "home" to Black Rock City, and we live, almost literally, in the back yard of Burning Man! What that means is that many of you come here, to our default world home, to prepare for your sojourns to the Playa.
Being the neighborly folks we are, we thought it would be awesome to help all ya'all out by providing a page with some of the resources that might be helpful to you and to introduce you to local businesses that cater to Burner's, but also have to keep going the other 50 weeks of the year.We encourage anyone visiting Reno to visit and patronize these locally owned businesses where possible.

Really wanted to love this hostel because we heard such good things. The check in process took hours with several mistakes made by the receptionist, assigning us the wrong room and seeming flustered, charging us wrong amounts on our cards or failing to explain anything properly. We received no info about the hostel or where anything was and room fans didn’t work well. The decor is cool and some great people to meet prior to the Burn but the hostel feels pretty run down. For sure it’s one of the busiest weeks but we were pretty disappointed for the price and membership for what we received and

The Morris is a place filled with beautiful artwork and beautiful people. From the moment I walked through the door, I knew I was in the right place. If you enjoy the hostel scene, enjoy art, and like meeting new people... you're definitely going to want to come check out The Morris Burner Hostel.😁😊😘

What an amazing place! I've never done the Burning man thing, but this place really inspired me to take more interest in doing so. The Morris is a great place to stay with warm and inviting people of all types. There are certainly a lot of fun and eccentric people that come and go here and they really help to make the Morris a very inviting and unique place to visit.
I highly recommend staying here if you like the Hostel vibe. There is tons of community space and there is almost always someone around to visit with and meet. Will definitely visit again!

Made me homesick for big island. Seeing the people having conversation or alone very nice communal yet personal space vibe is what I saw. Huge yard very BM decorated so great spot for virgin burners to land and begin the journey. Rooms are small .its a hostel Neighborhood is what it is. But that exists everywhere. Society is us. So is only an issue if you only see that and hang out only outside. Very cool

The Morris Burner Hostel really has the spirit of Burning Man at an affordable price. Most likely the most affordable in town. It was a great way to come back from the playa. The only thing is that it can get quite hot in there. Other than that, the staff was nice and helpful and the others guests were fun. Good atmosphere, pancakes for breakfast and tons of art. Go for it!

Gorgeous art everywhere you look, welcoming hosts, just what I needed to decompress after Burning Man this year. The Morris Burner Hostel is a unique experience, and it will help you appreciate principles like leave no trace, civic responsibility, communal effort, gifting, etc. I could have paid more at a hotel and had more creature comforts, but this was memorable and fun, not something I've ever found at a casino hotel. I would recommend it as a place for burners, artists, and those willing to explore off the beaten path. - Grasshopper.

The hostel is converted from an old brick hotel. The common areas inside and in the backyard are artsy, creative and fun. It is a welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are small but more than adequate. There is no elevator, so the stairs to the second or third floor provide a nice stair stepping exercise. The showers and restrooms were clean and enough for no waiting.
The backyard is fenced in and secured at night. The parking lot is also in back. It is not fenced in and secured, but I had no problems for four nights.
The location is in a semi sketchy part of town. A homeless shelter is

It's a bit dirty, to be honest. The concept of this place is fantastic, and the people who are working there are really, really kind. But the cleanliness is just not that great! I might go back and try again some day, but I might also be inclined to stay in a motel nearby for the same price and more privacy (and potentially more cleanliness).
Also folks should be aware that the area near the hostel isn't 100% safe. It's filled with all manner of folks of the public who may be just fine and may be down and out and unstable. TREAD LIGHTLY.

Stayed here a year ago. Had a good time, but the yearly Burner Festival made holding onto even a dorm-room a bit tricky my last few daze there. I quite fancied the Morris Burner Hostel since the building was actually constructed and used as a hotel in the late 20s I believe. It possesses a charmingly ethereal, bohemian, Art-nouveau, wicker-man, druid-like sensibilities that are hard to find in the midst of today's disparagingly vacuous, reality-simulation glitches. Will be returning soon, if they let me !

I am a sucker for themed rooms, and especially a sucker for artsy spaces. When we were looking for cheap places to stay after a day trip to Reno, I stumbled upon this hostel. It had good reviews, but it being a hostel, I was a bit hesitant. But when I saw pictures of the rooms and space, I was hooked. Staying at the Morris Burner Hostel is an experience, and it should be approached that way.
Note, this is NOT a hotel. Americans typically aren't super familiar with the concept of hostels, but basically, there are several shared rooms where you rent a bedspace for dirt cheap. You share bathrooms

I toured this hotel years ago when it first opened and thought it would be a fun addition to 4th Street. I like hostels so I thought I would check it out. It is more of a commune type situation now. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The sheets and towels were clean but the comforter and pillows- yea no. There are lots of messages about doing your part, so I cleaned about 1'1/2" of dust from the blades of the overhead fan. The heater didn't work so I went to another room and swapped it out. The sink was clogged in the bathroom attached to the Cuban Gangster room. This

By far the most unique hostel that I've ever been to. The staff where, ever so, amazing and very accommodating. Upon arriving to the hostel there was a very calming and nurturing aura of the building that instantly put my mind at ease, from a very long road trip. I highly recommend this hostel over any casino or hotel to anyone that stays in Reno. Weather you may be alone or traveling with friends. The Morris Burner Hostel is a place you'll never forget.

Love this place. The rooms are funky and so are the people - just the way I like it!
We stayed in the Temple Suite which is super sweet not only because it's on a corner so it has plenty of windows for light and air, but it's also beautifully decorated with a psychedelic mural and it has a walk-in closet and en suite bathroom complete with full size bath tub! I took at least one bath a day. I also used the tub under the stairs which I recommend to other petite folk and the tub that's off the 2nd floor kitchen which is full size. Yes, I took baths in every tub in the place. That

Wow! I have been a burner for over 9 years but never stayed here and I am so glad I finally did! I loved the vibe and what an awesome building! I wish I could have stayed longer. I do think some of the clutter and knicknacks could be cleared out but otherwise I fell in love with the burner charm here and the vintage details. I thoroughly explored every nook and cranny and even hung out in the back for a while before I left, honestly felt like moving in because I could not spend enough time here. Everyone was very friendly and the professionalism of the front desk clerk Shoup really wowed me. He

I love this place. It's both inspiring and soothing the second you walk in. The hostel is great with dogs outside but they cannot go upstairs into the rooms. I only bring my service dog because I work there.
The shows are amazing there. We've got shows many weekdays as well something going on every weekend.
I wasn't a burner when I showed up there a year ago October but I am an artist, from my music to the food I put on plates. These are my people, this is my second home. I choose to be there even when I'm not helping out. This is not a job. This is not a kitschy boutique hostel. This is an expansion

The Morris is pretty much what you expect from a hostel startup run by hippies. For some people, that's probably going to be a turnoff. If there was wi-fi, I never managed to find it; the water pressure in the shower was only somewhat above "trickle"; and no, there will not be a continental breakfast downstairs (though the coffee was better than what you would get at any other hotel).
But the things I just listed are not why would you stay at this place. I came to have a wild time with a bunch of my friends and hang out with a bunch of hippies, and that's exactly what I got

The awesome employees and owner at the Morris Burner Hotel are like visiting the awesome family you never had but wanted.
I stopped by to check it out because my friend Galactic Butterfly recommended this place.
I ended up charging my Segway ,and having the most lovely visit, even though I'm staying in my rv.

Huge thanks to Chris M for setting this up.
I had no idea or preconceptions of this place. But we were going to be in the backyard at 1 pm for a food event.
Chris set up an art tour of the hotel prior to our food event.
The Morrison Burner Hotel was started in 2013. It was remodeled by volunteers using as much original material and recycled furnishings. The hotel is also ran by volunteers. Their philosophy is based in the ten principles of burning man. Gemini escorted us thru the first and second floors, the saloon and backyard of the 1928 building.
Steam Punk Saloon is a great space.

My husband and I were in Reno last fall and some friends told us they were also in town and they'd be at a party later in the evening at this hotel. We weren't far so we walked a few blocks and found ourselves ringing the door bell, trying to find a way in. The neighborhood is horrible and we probably would have stayed at the party later but we didn't want to walk back to the casinos in the dark. Be aware of your surroundings if youre walking by!
Once inside the hotel, we were offered a tour of some of the rooms. Very unique! Several were occupied and we couldn't look at these

This place is super fun, so much that it seems I'm here all the time. The Morris Burner Hotel is in a historic building right near downtown Reno. It's not in the best part of town, but it's part of an effort being made to make 4th St fun and interesting again. It's only a block away from the bus station and only a couple blocks from the main casinos. It is a hotel created by Burners, so it has a very Burning Man vibe and they encourage everyone to practice radical inclusion, self-expression, civic responsibility and the other principles of Burning Man.
