Services
Renaissance Furniture Restoration offers you a more relaxed way to get an idea of how much it would cost you to refinish your treasured table or reupholster your favorite chair or sofa. We make it easy to get an idea of cost without the irritation of scheduling an appointment with the estimator or, even worse, bringing your furniture to our shop.
The main difference between Renaissance Restoration and other companies lies in the techniques of refinishing and the quality of materials used. Most companies use liquid paint removers or even the method known as "dipping", when furniture is placed into the tank with stripping solution. These are not good treatments for any furniture, and in particular for old furniture.
Upholstery has been used for centuries to create comfortable and handsome looking furniture. Its technology has not changed fundamentally, but two aspects of it separate average upholsterers from masters of the art. The most important is careful craftsmanship. There are many ways to upholster furniture.
The Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman were designed by Charles and Ray Eames in 1956, and were introduced on national television (The Today Show) by the Herman Miller company. The chair became a highly visible emblem of Herman Miller quality and innovation. This iconic and classic furniture is still highly popular in 21st century.
For almost 20 years Renaissance Furniture Restoration Company successfully collaborates with furniture making factory in Java, Indonesia. Per your request we can order reproduction of any Victorian chair, table, dresser and many more from our catalog. One of our biggest hits is the President's Resolute Desk replica.

Boris is the real deal! He did a great job with the catastrophic damage to my Eames chair and brought it back to life. He is exactly what you would hope for in a great restoration craftsman and did a meticulous job, on time, at a fair price. I’d highly recommend him

Boris completely restored dining room furniture that my parents had purchased in 1952. He repaired the table legs, took apart the six chairs & put them back together, replaced some glass in the china hutch, re-stained and upholstered everything anew. He even restored the original knobs and drawer pulls to shiny beauty and ordered custom table pads for me. My family will continue to enjoy this furniture for decades to come.

Don't let the residential address fool you, Renaissance is a full service restoration shop. The foam latex cushions on my mid-century couch had deteriorated to dust and needed to be completely re-built. I called half a dozen places in the Bay Area and Boris came back with the best price. After a quick consult, Boris let us go through a huge selection of fabrics. He also gave us a run-down of options and how they would impact price and durability. The turn around time was reasonable given that it is a one man shop. The result was of superlative quality and looks great. I would recommend this shop

I had Boris repair and restore several Kai Kristiansen dining chairs. He was great to work with, a true master. He is very clear about what he can and cannot do, and careful not to overpromise. Instead, in my experience, he overdelivers.
He does have an upcharge for working with latex foam because he has an allergy and has to take extra precautions.
