We like to say "it's not your mother's rayon"! Our grandmothers remember when rayon fabrics were first introduced to the fashion market. It was drapey and colorful, but could not be washed and had a crisp hand that was unappealing to some. Not so anymore. Rayon comes in many incarnations now and most are washable.
Linen is the oldest fiber, dating back to 8000 BC in some records. It has stood the test of time for many reasons. It is durable, resists moths, sheds dirt and does not produce lint. Linen fabrics are also exceptionally absorbent, making them ideal for warm weather comfort. The fiber weaves into a strong fabric that dyes easily.
Traditionally a natural fiber company, in recent years we have added some synthetic fibers and novelty fabrics to our line. We are seeing a higher quality of synthetics from European mills and are intrigued by the texture and hand that can be derived from these fibers. Advantages include washability and textural interest without the high cost of all natural fibers.

Faten is delightful and a fountain of knowledge. When I travel to the shop she spends 2 hours by my side, answering questions about all things fabric and construction. She can tell me just what fabric will drape best for a garment. I bring my patterns and inspiration boards and she offers fabric suggestions. She helps me determine yardage. She drapes fabric over my shoulder in front of a mirror. I love hearing the history of where the fabric came from. I learn so much about fabrics each time I go. I liked this store. She said to call ahead unless it's a Wednesday or the last Saturday of the month because she's there more randomly the rest of the time. I learned not to bring young kids who want to touch things! It's set up more for a boutique shopping experience where the owner is a personal shopper and and they are organized for efficient packaging since most of their business is online. Thankfully they had blocks for my kids to play with and the owners were nice about things but I won't bring them again. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because I did feel so awkward with my

The owner is so knowledgeable about all things fabric and sewing. She is patient with her customers. The fabrics are beautiful and unique. You know she loves fabric and has a keen eye for color and fashion. I can't wait to take another field trip to her shop. I would definitely trust using mail order for my purchases.
