ACT I Begins in the wine cellar. You are handed the evening's menu and a flute of Hobbit Champagne. Hot and cold hors d'oeuvres are placed throughout the cellar for you to enjoy while selecting your wine for dinner. ACT II Our guests are invited upstairs to their own table. Act II includes a shellfish or fish course, followed by a fowl or light meat.
You are then invited to enjoy "intermission" - take a walk, relax on the patios or visit the kitchen to speak with the chefs. ACT III Return to the table. A flavorful sorbet is next as a palate-cleanser. The main entree is served complete with accompanying vegetables. Dessert arrives next, always available with an after dinner list of coffee drinks, liqueurs and fine cognacs.

Services
We are now open for dining inside our restaurant. Due to distancing guidelines and California restrictions, our dining rooms have limited seating. The dinner experience will take 4 hours. Dress code will be enforced. Our dress code is an elegant casual; jackets recommended for men; ties are optional.
Mike Philippi has been the owner and executive chef of the hobbit restaurant for over 30 years. His culinary training is from a classic French background; today his cuisine is focused on global and seasonal foods. You can see his passion for wine when viewing over 1000 selections of wine, which are on display in the wine cellar.
The cost for our prix-fixe menu is $96.00 per person ( tax, tip and any wine and other beverages additional). How far in advance do I need to make reservations? Please call or book your reservations online, we will do our best to accommodate your date or help you select another. Saturdays, are the most popular and usually book out 2 to 3 months in advance.
A brief note from me for all of you who ask about our beef products. I buy only U.S.D.A. Filet Mignon and New York Steak. The veal we use is free range and I use only the loin for all of our veal preparations, such as Bone in Veal Loin.
When planning our 6 course pre-fixe menu I realize that not everyone on any given day wants "let's say Beef Wellington!" Therefore, I plan a fresh fish alternate to the featured main course, which you may choose that evening. If Lamb, Veal or Duck is the featured main course we always offer two alternates, a beef and a fish for you to select from.

The Hobbit's menu features one main entree per week. You can find the main course on the drop down "upcoming entrees" and match it with your reservation date. We always offer an alternate to each evening's main course for an additional $8.75. Please see the following samples of some of our seasonal menus to give you an idea of how your meal will unfold.

This was such an amazing experience. The presentation of all the plates was so cool and every dish was something to savor. With the dinner I did the wine pairing, and every wine was perfectly paired with each dish. The dessert drinks were very good as well. I will be back in the future for another beautiful evening here.

Elegant dinner experience. The food was excellent and beautifully done. There are 5 courses or bust, so come hungry. The wait staff were all very friendly and informative. There's also a wine cellar you can walk around and oogle at the selection or buy for your table! Listen, it's not called The Hobbit for nothing. If you're familiar with the story, Hobbit's have multiple meals in a day. I, personally, felt as though each course was 1st dinner, second dinner, supper, and so on. Be prepared to stay awhile too, there's an actual intercession. My party and I loved it so much we vowed to come every

A great place to meet up with friends you haven't seen in a while. There is only one seating & the food is prix-fixe. They make exceptions for people who do not eat red meat. First serving is champagne & appetizers. Then a meat plate, afterwards the guest are invited to go down to the wine cellar or balcony or the patio. Next Sorbet to cleanse the palate, then the entrée. Desert is last. I cannot tell which serving was the best, only that all were excellent. Plan on spending 4 hours here, you will love it.

The food is definitely in its category, fine dining. The wine selection was superb and the staff goes way above most standards. There was no disappointment from start to finish. I would recommend the restaurant to all my friends except for the picky ones. Only reason being, they mostly do a pre fixe, but still amazing.

A delicious spot well worth waiting for. Reservations can take months, but the old adage "good things come to those who wait" cannot be exemplified more in their carefully selected pre fixe menu. Each dish is presented beautifully and tastes wondrous. Expect to enjoy the entire four-hour dining experience.

When you have so many missed things to celebrate, The Hobbit is a must. Impeccable service. I literally use their service as my benchmark for fantastic service. The food is delicious. Multiple courses of wonderful things. We do miss the pre-covid hors d'oeuvres hour, but the sample plate is good too and quite frankly easier to eat while drinking that tasty Hobbit champagne. It is always a great time to sit and enjoy each other's company for a few hours in the evening. Can't wait until our next dinner there. Thank you for continuing to be so wonderful!

I have been to "The Hobbit" twice.
I heard so many good things about this place, and I was lucky enough to experience it twice the last year. One time outside in a tent, due to covid.
And just yesterday inside.
It was a beautiful experience.
Being from Europe and used to high scale restaurants
I have to say this was a blessing. I am a lot of times exhausted by restaurant Staff constantly asking if I am ok or enjoying my meal. I like the old style where you enjoy your meal and give your lovely feedback after you're ready to leave. Enjoying a good conversation during and after dinner is a precious

The Hobbit is much more than a meal. It is a dining experience!
My wife and I took our youngest son and his girlfriend to The Hobbit last evening as a very belated birthday present.
We started the evening by going upstairs to the bar. We each at a different cocktail and they were really expertly made. My mojito was excellent.
At seven, we went two floors down to The Wine Cellar for champagne and hors d'oeuvres. The servers were very generous with the champagne and I admit I had three glasses. The hors d'oeuvres were just great too! There was plenty for everyone! We brought a special bottle of
